This morning at State House, Nairobi, I was officially sworn in as the Principal Secretary for the State Department for Youth Affairs and the Creative Economy. I am deeply grateful to the Almighty God for this incredible blessing at this stage in my life. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to His Excellency Dr. @WilliamsRuto for the faith he has shown in me and for entrusting me with the responsibility of leading such a vital department in our nation’s development. My sincere appreciation goes out to all my comrades and fellow Kenyans, both at home and abroad, for the overwhelming support and warm messages of congratulations. As I begin this journey, I am committed to serving our country with dedication and integrity, and to ensuring that our ministry plays a key role in driving the transformation of our mother Kenya.

This morning, @gender_ke joined @CrawnTrust for the 2024 Intersectional Forum that is aimed at exploring the intersection of technology and women’s economic empowerment. This forum is a result of the Women’s Economic Forum Kenya (WEFK) 2024 held on 28 & 29 February 2024 which highlighted the gender digital divide. This year's Forum discussions will be centered on ways in which gender inequality in the physical world is replicated in the digital world in terms of women and girls digital adoption, access and meaningful use compared to men and boys, and the implications thereof. Through the implementation of the Women's Voice and Leadership (WVL) Project, @crawntrustkenya goal is the full enjoyment of rights by Kenyan women and girls, with their partners contributing to this through grant making, organisational capacity strengthening, rapid response funding, networking and alliance building. This project is supported by Global Affairs Canada @GAC_Corporate and implemented in Kenya through @CAREinKenya and their four principal partners - @crawntrustkenya, @CREAWKenya, @UAFAfrica and @UraiaTrust. @crawntrustkenya delivers on the networking and alliance building pillar of the WVL project. This is achieved through, among others, hosting of the women’s movement for key annual conferences and platforms such as the Intersectional Forum. The Oxford Dictionary defines Intersectionality as the interconnected nature of social categorizations such as race, class, and gender, regarded as creating overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage. Thus, the Intersectional Forum is intended to provide space for analysis of the linkage between various drivers of women’s empowerment for action in eradicating structural barriers hindering their agency and growth. @gender_ke is represented by Senior Gender Officers @YVONNENDANU6 and @AbamidaF.
