I voted NO because the SAVE Act would make it harder for law-abiding American citizens to vote, especially married women, seniors, and Americans in rural areas.
We need to make sure our elections are safe and secure. That doesn’t mean we should prevent Americans from exercising their Constitutional right to vote.

I relented because I retired 20 years ago and no longer reside in a fleet town or really keep up with administrative stuff so I thought it might be possible. There were times when an individual might have his PCS transfer date extended but that was not general policy. You could chopper off any ship to the carrier and COD'd (Carrier onboard delivery) off the ship on one of those C2s that looked like an E2C Hawkeye without the rotating radar dome used for PAX, mail and equipment transfers.

I'm not doubting your experience one bit and it is your service. At best, I was Navy adjacent. Doing this at scale has to be disruptive. For decades, the Army's individual-personnel replacement system was the bane of unit commanders, unit cohesion, training, and readiness. It was insane.

That's the way it was during my 26 years. If that has changed then I stand corrected. Once I rotated out on one ship 3 months into deployment and went right back to the med to catch my next ship with 4 months remaining on deployment. There were sea shore/duty rotations, when it was time to go, you go. You are relieved by or relieve someone of the same job duty type (billet) and rank (generally), it's not like any one person is going to wreck a division much less a ship. They used to relieve COs mid deployment when it was time to go.

As a matter of manning and personnel policy on sea and shore duty, why would the Navy PCS someone right in the middle of deployment and take on a newby who's new to the ship, and didn't participate in any pre-deployment training? Not even the Army does that anymore in our Brigade Combat Teams.

On carriers, if they're on the ship when it leaves homeport for deployment then they stay on the ship until finishes deployment & returns to homeport sans a legit family emergency at home or the sailor getting seriously ill (and our carriers have impressive on-board medical capabilities).
