Couple observations here: Teoscar Hernández did not need to stop and tag up again. Even if it had been a catch on a bobble, he can go once the ball hits Frelick's glove (and probably would've been safe if he had). Granted, easier said than done in that moment Also, it seems neither Will Smith nor 3B coach Dino Ebel saw the sign from the LF umpire that the ball was not caught –– which is what led Smith to get doubled off Really, just a tough, weird play all around. From the press box, FWIW, it looked like the ball was caught. And on the field, the umpire making the critical call isn't in anyone's line of sight (and had dropped his arms once it became clear what was happening)
