@SwailesRuth @MissSDoherty Yep so did we at grandma & grandpa's. We'd arrive at 11.30, yorkshires at 11.45 and then beef at 12.15. And then the v best ice cream from Caddy's in Dewsbury

@suzi1dore You look amazing. My mum has just had a stoma, the alternative was death. She had ischemic colitis after surgery, and her bowel failed. After 6 weeks of constant diahorrea her stoma has saved her. Never say never.

You wouldn’t believe the amount of people who have said to me “no offence, but I’d rather die than have a stoma”…you do you, crack on, I’ll just be over here sparkling ✨🥰✨ This grandma 👵🏼 happens to love this life. #coloncancer #coloncancersurvivor #bowelcancer #colorectal

@GSpellchecker We have one. The cat stands by it so it clicks, then sits by the back door to be let in. Or sits on the kitchen window sill to be let in through there. Even though she can use it very well

I'm going to mute this now. Thank you to all those with nice, thoughtful or amusing comments. And the handful of Americans. In regards to fitting a chip reading cat flap, that was originally a consideration. However, we had some concerns about cats getting locked out if the batteries ran out. I'm now over this concern and will be fitting a new one sometime after pay day as it's £74. Which reminds me, please consider supporting me on Substack 🔗sknight.substack.com

I had a cat flap fitted a while back so that I didn't get harassed by their demands to be let out at 4am. Anyway, I don't know whose cat this is in my kitchen.

My dad introduced me to cheese and jam sandwiches as a child. Still one of my favourites today in my 50s and I've still never heard of another person eating this combination. Please tell me it's not just me now. RIP Dad.

After many years battling with my eye health, I’ve reached the end of road somewhat, and the decision has been made to try a prosthetic eye shell. This marks the start of a journey to have an artificial eye, with an incredible medical team behind me.

In 2021, I got sectioned. In 2022 and 2023, I had involuntary stays in hospital. I genuinely thought I’d never get better… Turns out, I was wrong, and today I’m celebrating spending the whole of 2024 hospital-free! 🎉

IVE FINALLY BROKE SUB 30 5KM!! After last times attempt I thought I had done it but Strava said it was 30:54, today I gave everything I had to break the 30 minute barrier and we just about did it! It was tough and had to dig deep at the end but we do it for mental health and those who are suffering. You are never alone ❤️

@LeeBarronMP Unfortunately, although that seems a large sum, it's the tip of the iceberg. How many schools in north northants alone? Ongoing funding to ensure condition work is done continually is also needed. Funding for capital works is v hard to access.

Encouraged to report that our new government has pledged £1.4 billion to meet a target of rebuilding 50 schools in England every year, so that our kids do not have to learn in what have become crumbling classrooms. #Corby #eastnorthamptonshire

I’m on a high speed train from Madrid to Barcelona with actual functioning wifi, air conditioning, a cafeteria and TV screens with maps of the journey. It was not only on time but is due to arrive 10mins early… and the best bit? The ticket cost ~£18 😭 the UK could NEVER

@LeeBraganza My son telling me about his body made me cry too. Honestly, it's a wonderful thing to do. He chose his courses specifically for that reason. People donating their bodies are supporting our future Drs. It is so wonderful, you should be so proud x

@LeeBraganza Certainly at Cambridge. Every two years a service. But annually letters from the family on who the person was, their background etc. My son spent a year with his body, the letter led to tears from everyone - it is a v special relationship & so valued.

Even in death my aunt is a remarkable lady. She donated her body to the UEA medical school and it's just been accepted! She will used by postgrad students for education, research and teaching.

For those of you lying awake all night fretting about the Basil Vs Canal Fish incident -I know it must be several million of you at least- his concrete stomach has prevailed once more. Other than rancid burps, he emerged victorious, having learned nothing
Stella@AwfulLotOfEagle

Basil just ate a canal-side fish so rotten it stank from 20 yards away. He's doing the most ungodly burps & if we make till morning without explosions from any of his various holes it'll be a miracle. Behold. You see before you the face of a vast unknowable satanic evil
