@pyro_ae @DistantCoder @Thefusionistygo Its not the fact about it being fusion material. In both cases its fusion material. Crown cares about the type of summon. In this case, a contact fusion is not a fusion summon because you are not using a card effect

@DistantCoder @Thefusionistygo Contact fusion and fusion are both considered special summons. How could you assume its not used as material when it is literally material to be met for the fusion to happen one fallen and one other dragon. He was right to assume you can’t do that.

I often talk about why ruling knowledge is important at the highest level of Yu-Gi-Oh competition, and that was put on display perfectly in Game 2 of the finals at YCS Colombus yesterday. Allow me to explain. In the pictured gamestate, Jesse Kotton is trying to find a way to attack for game. Lucas is out of interaction, Jesse's mirrorjade has not yet activated and both his Fallen of the White Dragon & Aluber have 0 ATK. Jesse's Fallen of the White Dragon has also been affected by Forbidden Crown. We know Jesse plays Alba-Lenatus the Abyss Dragon, a fusion monster that can be Special Summoned by sending 1 Fallen of Albaz + 1 or more Dragon(s) from either field to the Graveyard. So this is where the ruling comes into play: Here, Jesse's Fallen of the White Dragon is affected by Forbidden Crown which makes it so Fallen "Cannot be used as material for a Fusion [...] Summon." but Alba-Lenatus is not a Fusion Summon, it is a Special Summon by sending the monsters listed in its text from either field to the Graveyard. In this position, Jesse COULD have sent his own Fallen as well as Lucas' Fallen to the Graveyard in order to summon Alba-Lenatus, used his Mirrorjade to banish Lucas' Ecclesia and attack for game, but seemingly due to not knowing the ruling Jesse ultimately didn't find a line to attack for game and lost this duel. While Jesse does ultimately take game 3 to win the set, I cannot stress enough how much knowledge of intricate rulings and interactions can help even the greatest of players in this game. A lot of people have this belief that knowing rulings isn't really important because judges are there to correct mistakes but judges won't tell you that you can make a play you assume you can't make. I implore anyone that wants to get better at Yu-Gi-Oh to take the time and learn the intricate rules of the game, I promise it will only benefit you! GGs to Jesse for winning and GGs to Sacco for an amazing tournament performance. If y'all have any questions about this ruling or want to understand further feel free to ask away in the comments, I'd be more than happy to clarify.

No, it’s not “just a dating preference” to say that you’d never date a trans person solely because they’re trans. That’s just transphobia.

@prfctsnst @SkarlonYGO If you play competitive, you know what the cards do already. A competitive player in all the card games know what new cards do immediately and have an understanding of how the top decks operate

@SkarlonYGO the episode pauses for two and a half minutes so i can walk across the hologram projector and read the effects of my opponent's 6 boss monsters that they churned out from a two card combo on turn 1 and see if there are any negates so i can determine if i get to play this turn

@theskulled You don't miss the way the card game used to be because combo decks existed from the start. It was never really a skill intensive back and forth til now. You miss making up the rules as you go because "thats how they did it in the anime"

I love Yu-Gi-Oh. But, I miss Yu-Gi-Oh. I miss the super edgy anime, where the protagonist was going to die horribly unless they could justify destroying the moon to drain the tide. And you sit back and go "damn... Why didn't I think of that?!" Now there is no edgy anime. More than that, I miss a card game that was simple. I would activate my trap card and my opponent would go "No!" I would summon a monster, set a card face down and end my turn. Now there is 40 steps to a turn, requiring me to remember at least 1000 words of effects of cards in my hand, deck, extra deck, and graveyard. I miss, opening a pack and actually be able to do 'something' with every card (yes, skull servant sucks but, I can still use him). As opposed to modern packs where I open a pack get 5 cards that reference and require 30 other cards that I don't own. Making them all worthless.

@lavendersodaa The teachers are always extremely wholesome and actually protective of the students. So far none of them have been creeps at all. I've read the Manga so I can ensure they're not gonna suddenly become creeps later

@Konami @YuGiOh_TCG why are boxes of magnificent monsters so expensive? You want people to pay $35 plus on 18 cards? Thats insane

@AvaVtuber_ Be proud of the accomplishments you make no matter how small they seem. If it seemed difficult at first or tedious but you did it anyway, you have more strength than most people. And thats something you should be happy about

@Polytrixbrained @LRSerling You are not stating you do or dont have nib. You are not giving away this information. You are asking a general question about public information. The amount of summons per turn is public information. I'll admit the better phrasing would be "how many summons was that?"

@RayMaster420 @LRSerling The nib example is literally also not legal. You can't do that cause you are either 1)misrepresenting the gamestate if you dont have it OR 2)revealing private info if you do Both of those are illegal actions

Juat found out that in competitive irl yugioh bluffing is illegal?? A player got a 6 month tournament ban for putting tokens off to the side that his deck doesnt actually use in order to trick opponents into believing hes running different cards than he was

@Polytrixbrained @LRSerling No. What would be illegal is if I said "I have nib in my hand" which is revealing private information. Asking "how many summons was that, especially since nib isn't the only card thay checks this is a valid question. Just like I can ask "how many cards in deck" even without grass

@jen_tcg Thats a fair assessment of our game tbh, most other games don't have that. Most players will say "yep" or nod or some other affirmation to declare they don't intend to respond to your effect. I like to ask "response?" After activating an effect just in case

what’s the proper etiquette for playing irl and confirming that your opponent won’t respond to your effects? last week when I went to my first local, I would play a card, and then my opponent and I awkwardly stared at each other for a few seconds before I played another one. 😭
