On Monday (June 15), the New York Taxi Alliance and Zachery Dereniowski launched a GoFundMe for the driver, who has been identified as Noureddine. The campaign aimed to raise $25,000 for Noureddine, whose taxi was vandalized by people celebrating the Knicks being NBA champs for the first time in 53 years. He was also "assaulted and dragged from his vehicle by a crowd," according to the GoFundMe's description.
The GoFundMe has exceeded its goal in less than 24 hours and donations continue to roll in.
