"Right, that all looks OK. So like I said, put a smear of rubber grease on before you offer the backplate up and you're good to go."

Has anyone ever in the history of engineering used a full tin of Blue? Stuff lasts longer than valve grinding paste. 😄

Fit. Check. Remove. Adjust. Repeat. Got to make sure all that K5 goodness is hidden away. 👍

I'm waiting on parts (3TA clutch, R6 plugs, bolts for the crank bench etc) so finally getting on with some RF1000 bit's. Dug out some scruffy frame plugs to keep the look, made the top rear engine bolt spacers, check the suspension bolt torques etc. 👍

A little more crank bench action with a press plate upgrade that fits like a glove. It's getting there now. 👍

@classicrider @BigJimStilton My preferred method with a scone is to put jam and then cream on one half, and cream then jam on the other. That way I can simultaneously please and annoy everyone at the same time. 👍

@authlink Getting taken for an MOT if the owner has any sense. Personally I think it's one of those "better safe than sorry" situations. If there's the slightest doubt take it for an MOT so that you're above board.

@ballaspur The idea is that it looks like a '90s sports tourer but goes, stops and handles like a modern sports bike. It should cause a few surprises. 😄

@ReaRepairs Yeh , i just noticed it was a whole k5 front end too. Should be a cracking bike with that motor too.

As the Kickback Magazine + Custom Show is four weeks today 😳 I need to free up a ramp and get a wriggle on with the RF1000.

@KPCYCLES I use them quite often for some applications, the problem with them is that they're too bulky for some jobs. Superseal are the other go to, but neither are suitable for restoration or 'as is' repair work on classic bikes.

@ReaRepairs Time to upgrade to Deutch connectors. Very easy to use.

No one's got these Lucas bullet connector blocks in stock. The only ones available are singles or doubles. To get round that a neat alternative that looks close is to use five singles in a piece of glue lined heat shrink. 👍

@OPrimark If they'd just take it steady for a while to get the feel back and their eye in it'd be better for everyone. 🫤

@ReaRepairs Got behind one today. Point and squirt and massive brake grab merchant. Too much bike for him given the body language and the way he was jerking it about.

I see the fair weather Latte racers are out today. Still, going by the standard of riding there should be a bumper crop of parts and Cat 'N' write offs available soon. Ever cloud... 😄

@ballaspur All helps to keep it the right way up. I wouldn't fancy the mapped K5 GSXR1000 engine in it without sorting the suspension and brakes. 😬😄

@Exuptoy Yeah they were one of the first I tried. Plenty of singles and doubles, but none of the 3, 4 or 5. Ralph at Biker's Toolbox is worth a call if you're ever stuck for an odd bits, but even he didn't have any. bikerstoolbox.co.uk/?srsltid=AfmBO…

@BulldogBDX Time keeps getting used up with earning a living and the BS involved in running a business. I've spent most of this morning for example filling out a fire risk assessment and sorting out the electrical inspection. 🙄

So you price young people out of the labour market with huge rises in the minimum wage and national insurance. Then you subsidise employers to employ young people. Government is brilliant. Simply brilliant.
The Telegraph@Telegraph

🔴 The Telegraph understands that Pat McFadden will announce on Monday that employers will receive a £3,000 taxpayer subsidy for hiring under-25s who have been on Universal Credit for more than six months Find out more ⬇️ telegraph.co.uk/business/2026/…
