I think Frieren being weak for her age is her being compared to other elves or beings that live very long. She has obviously faced countless demons —including the demon lord— so she knows exactly how to kill an individual efficiently. Rudeus is only human so idk if he can ever catch up.

@RealAnimeEnjoyr Series actually said that frieren is weak for her age. That's because she actually has very little experience - after flame died, she just lived in Forest near village until himmel picked her up. Also in beginning of season 3 he will get a thing that just nullifies magic attacks

How is this even a debate? Frieren: a mage that ha been acquiring wisdom and has trained magic for 1000s of years or Rudeus: a mage that has been training for a couple decades... ???

Well, I didn't want to write a whole essay but that's what I mean as well. She has lived a long time — this doesn't mean that she has been rotting in a cave somewhere — she has learned countless spells, both useless and useful, some even very niche and unexpected in a battle. She has also probably fought thousands of demons —including the demon lord— during her lifetime which gives her experience, battle IQ and she knows exactly how to kill an individual efficiently. Living for a long time gives you a lot of advantages, not just age. Now, I'm not saying Rudeus is weak, he has also learnt a lot during his time, but his time won't ever be enough to fight someone of Frieren's caliber, since Rudeus is just a human.

Firstly what concerns knowledge of "her world" with this discussion rn? Now yh sure he had over 400 yrs after her master died to goof off but after then her journey was moreso about learning human emotions and all that, and the fact that you can't even quantify the amount of spells he learnt and how many of them would even be useful in combat. So tbh I don't see what this experience has to play here. What you should be doing is to account for all the spells,her battle IQ,speed and all other things acquired over the course of her journey then compare that to whoever,that's how you account for a person being a better mage not just by age or life span.

@AstaonX12 It's not about how long, it's about how much time they have had available and what they did with their time. If both train and learn at the same rate, obviously the one that has been a mage longer wins. Also Frieren doesn't only know magic, she has vast knowledge about her world

Not a hot take. Being the best ISEKAI of recent years automatically means being the best of all time since most ISEKAI is pretty recent (the oldest are like 10 years old with some exceptions).

I am aware that there are isekais older than 10 years old, that's why I said there are exceptions. In anime, there are around 200 isekais right now and LESS THAN 20 are older than 10 years old, that's why I call them exceptions. I said "MOST" isekai and even used "exceptions" in the post. How are there so many commenting the exact same "bUt bRo tHeRe aRe iSeKai FRoM tHe 90s, yOu jUsT dOn'T kNow WhAT yOu aRe saYiNg!!!"

@Grimdogx I know there are older isekais, that's why I said that there were exceptions. And I call them exceptions because there are close to 200 isekais right now and less than 20 of them are older than 10 years old.

@RealAnimeEnjoyr Nope, Isekai as a term was not coined until later but there were things like Inuyasha .Hack and Familiar of Zero in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It's a 30 year old genre.

Seeing Reincarnated as a Slime in a top 5 isekai list hurts. It's a badly written series from the beginning. The MC becomes a completely different person after reincarnating for no reason...

@RealAnimeEnjoyr @zorn_wolf4868 mf I was talking about narnia, alice in wonderland, and ultima (game series) not the fucking bible even still there's other anime like magic knight rayearth ('96), aura battler dunbine ('83), Final Fantasy Unlimited ('01), and more it's been an established genre for a long time

@RealAnimeEnjoyr Isekai is 10 years old? Vision of Escaflowne turns 30 this year. Fushigi Yuugi is 31. Twelve Kingdoms is 34 (24 for the anime). Isekai had its first real boom in the 1990s. And it started with Aura Battler Dunbine in the early 80s.
