Now I can 100% say that Retro Diffusion has the highest quality in the pixel art AI gen world. - Industry leading image gen with RD Pro - The highest quality animations with RD Advanced Animation - Custom styles that adapt to your examples Making things is so easy right now 😎

@AzFlin You haven't heard of it because its not very good. For open models, sure, but for actually coding its on par with like, gpt 3o mini

@emmanuel_2m Thats seriously cool! This is essentially how im building out an agent for retro diffusion, but slightly more linear instead of node focused.

(ii) WHY IT MATTERS Wether you are a serious node builder or a beginner, node graphs take some effort to set up, and to learn (so many options, nodes, models). With the Scenario Node Agent, you don't have to build by hand, or know every tool in advance. Drop an idea - or a question - and get a first working graph in a minute. From there, review and edit either manually or with more prompts: extend the workflow, duplicate or remove nodes, rewire a section, swap models, improve prompts... anything.

Alright... shipping our most important release so far 🚢 👉 Our Scenario Node Agent is live. You can now build & edit entire node graphs in minutes... from text prompts. Drop a one-liner, full spec or even a ComfyUI JSON 🥹 - it'll convert it into a working Scenario graph👇

@DannyLimanseta Forgot stage 0, where most artists continue to reside unfortunately. Actively attempting to destroy, regulate, and discourage AI usage due to personal conviction.

In my conversations with people about AI use, I've realised there's more nuance to how people are using AI than I initially thought. There are actually multiple stages of use, and some can quietly lead to AI psychosis, especially with sycophantic AIs. So I made a simple chart mapping the stages of AI adoption, from luddites "slop haters" to AI psychosis. It's useful for two things. First, knowing which stage you're in. Second, getting a read on the people around you, especially the ones who've drifted past stage 9 without realising it. I shared it with my team and found that most folks were at 4-7, with a few at 8 and 9s, which is a little concerning, but at least they are self aware of which stage they are in.

@AzFlin @asynkimo Almost like adding a time dimension also make the problem a lot harder to satisfy lol. I've been able to do a lot with AI animations but it takes lots of human effort still. Those human controls are needed. This isn't possible with just ai animation yet x.com/i/status/20422…

Made another one, each ring split using the editing model, and animated separately. This type of animation even really advanced video models can't get, its just got too much going on, its too coordinated. But by splitting it into sections it just takes a little work.

@AzFlin Fair, animations still have a ways to go before 100% ai stuff is really solid

Let's take this example of tachisnap from above: Face details are totally lost. The skin tone is now palette matched to the gold hair/armor, and no longer distinct. In the armor, there are tons of noisy individual pixels detached from larger groups. The symbol on the left shoulder is also muddied and indistinct unlike the original image. The bottom edge of the sword is also lost to color clamping. It's a good start, but transforming generic AI images into pixel art just doesn't work, you need to start with a pixel art image, not try and mash something 'close' into one.

@smolemaru @McReynoldsJoe I've used tachisnap, and even in your examples, there are such obvious issues of bad line continuity, dithering inconsistency, and excess noise. I'm not saying your tool is bad, but if proper pixel art is the end goal, it falls short. It's a good middle step, but not more.

If you're not using Retro Diffusion you're missing out on the highest quality pixel art generation out there. It's the only tool actually made by people who know what they are doing, have professional experience in art, game dev, and AI. It's so powerful.

@McReynoldsJoe It's neat but it fails in the same way every "turn non pixels into pixels" tool does. You lose the specific formations and details that make pixel art recognizable beyond being squares. I talk about that in the article. "TachiSnap" is functionally identical to PixelSnapper

This will save hours of cleanup work for pixel artists I built TachiSnap: a free, open-source pixel art fixer for AI-generated sprites. tachisnap.vercel.app github.com/tachikomared/T… Rust → WASM. 100% client-side. Runs in your browser. Can also run locally from CLI. No upload. No server. No account. Drop messy AI pixel art and it can: • snap fake pixels back to a clean grid • fix 2x / 3x / 4x oversized “AI pixels” • reduce noisy colors into a clean palette • remove backgrounds with flood fill • remove backgrounds by global color • use manual background color picking • upscale with crisp nearest-neighbor output • split sprite sheets into frames • convert sprite sheets into animated GIFs • adjust frame origin when sheets are misaligned • control columns, rows, FPS, palette size, pixel size • bulk process a whole folder • preserve folder structure in batch output • run as a native CLI on Windows / macOS / Linux • work in agentic flows with Codex / Claude Code Example: “Here is a folder of AI-generated sprites. Clean them with TachiSnap.” Agent runs the CLI locally. You get cleaned PNGs/GIFs back. No cloud processing needed. Useful for: • game devs • pixel artists • AI sprite workflows • animation cleanup • web/ai assets • RPG Maker / Godot / Unity sprites • batch-fixing whole asset folders Built by TachikomaRed + smolemaru. Forked from Hugo-Dz/spritefusion-pixel-snapper. Support building $TACHI 🦀 #gamedev #indiedev #pixelart #aiagents #openai #github #OSSvibejam

There isn't any sort of subscription (on purpose, I dislike that payment model a lot), you just top up on credits when you need to, and its easy to see exactly how much you spend and how much you have left. Modifying a ton of frames at once is tricky, but can probably be done with RD Pro edit, though all frames will need to fit into 256x256.

@RealAstropulse Wonderful! Just created an account. Is there a paid subscription option? Would love to pay and have a monthly credit allowance. (My projects use human art for the final, but I like to prototype with AI) Is there a tool to batch modify a whole set of frames? Eg "add a hat to him"

@McReynoldsJoe The models are trained for pixel art from the start, others use heavy pre/post processing

@levelsio The best part is, all those incentives, and they are still behind on tech because when you give people free money they are only making things to collect a paycheck not to actually create something. There is no incentive to actually make a viable product or even something good.

@AzFlin maybe more skilled but many are incredibly unemployable. ie mentally unstable, questionable ethics, inability to work in team setting, poorly socialized. there are not many highly skilled + employable people in the space.
