What should we refer to the second eight set of scoring swimmers? Historically we'd say "finished in the B-Final" but we'll need to devise a new nomenclature. Vote below. Any other ideas?

@SethDavisHoops @EvanMiya fill it. Now, all of the best teams each year can take a whack at filling whatever roster hole they have with an experienced player immediately. Some teams will miss on that, but not all, and as such you have more complete teams.

In the past, the roster lifecycle was much longer-you were much more dependent on a whole bunch of players all falling together at the same time. If you have a hole at PG or need shooting, you had better hope that 18 year old you’re bringing in can

What's interesting is @EvanMiya also sees separation growing between the top teams and the rest of the high majors. Any ideas as to why?

And to get out in front of the “well the superconferences chose to have so many teams, so they chose their imbalanced schedules” - the players and coaches didn’t choose this, so I’m not interested in punishing them

Big big fan of the first four of these ideas. They would do an excellent job helping the sport I don’t personally agree with the .500 conference record in an era of wildly unbalanced schedules, but this is still a very strong set of ideas

@Braden_Keith I was actually surprised when I checked and saw his second 500 was only tenth. I would have guessed higher.

His first 500 yards were faster than any other 15-16 has ever been in the 500 free lol.

Calvin Booth credited Michael Malone with developing Peyton Watson and Christian Braun. He said the championship required alignment between them. He said Malone deserves another head coaching job. But he was also honest about the bind he was in. Former NBA GM and coach Flip Saunders, Booth said, used to talk about the difference between idealistic and realistic. Front offices are idealistic. Coaches are dealing with reality every day: the pressure, the decisions, the knowledge that a losing streak could end their career. Booth admitted he was probably too idealistic in expecting a coach under that kind of pressure to execute a long-term development plan, especially for a first-time GM without a track record. “I have to take accountability whatever way that narrative grew legs and my part in it, I've learned from that,” Booth said. “There's such a weird paradox with NBA coaches. They're in the midst of the lion's den. They're dealing with players, some of the most formidable size-wise and ego-wise in the world, and they're managing them. Those guys buy in. And then these coaches have to report to a general manager who maybe doesn't have the gravitas they do. I just think it's a human nature thing.” Even with that awareness, Booth doesn't think the outcome was a reflection of how he handled it. He thinks he managed it better than most would have. "You could put 100 GMs in my position," he said. "I don't know what, three or four of them do as good as I did." @jeffplatt @WSOP Did you guys consider going with a 2AB for the tourneys which have consecutive day restarts? It feels like a bunch of those tournaments have roughly the same number of entrants in AB=C=D fashion.

@Kevmath Last year 345 people would have made 2A. The same bust rate from day 2 would leave 47 left. That’s going to be a whole bunch of extra pay jumps than days 1c and 1d will see since they will end with over 100 people left. @WSOP

Each flight has its own prize pool. The unpaid prize pool is then combined for day 3 payouts and beyond. Similar concept to tournaments that had Day 1 payouts.

@RileyMcAtee The politician that proposes the bill that would require any owner asking for public funds to offer their team up for sale to the municipality they’re requesting funds from à la the Packers would have like 99.999% approval and yet it won’t happen due to the .001%.

Schools will close and infrastructure will crumble but you'll get a characterless dome that hosts 8-10 football games and maybe one concert per year. What a deal.

There was a moment years ago where it looked like the public and local governments were actually going to fight back against these senseless subsidies for sports teams and owners that are already richer than god. Feels like ancient history now.
