Perps on equities doesn't work btw. 1) Paying 20% funding for an asset that goes up 10% per year on average is just dumb. 2) No dividends yielding that should be an extra 2-3% per year (while it sounds small, it still compounds up).

Something most people don’t know about holding $SOL: Solana's market cap has doubled since its peak in 2021, yet the price has only just returned to its all-time high. Shouldn’t the price double if the market cap has? The reason lies in its sneaky inflation. Solana issues new $SOL to subsidise validators because its ultra-low transaction fees can’t sustain the network otherwise. Nobody would have any incentive to validate Solana blocks if it wasn't for these rewards. Every block, more $SOL enters circulation. For the price to rise, demand must outpace inflation. But here’s the catch: most users don’t even need to own much $SOL. With fees so low, even one token lasts a lifetime of gas fees. Betting on $SOL is bad odds. Inflation eats away at value, requiring sustained demand growth just to stay even. Contrast this with Ethereum’s PoS model: instead of issuing new $ETH, Ethereum burns a portion of transaction fees, reducing its supply over time. Not dissing Solana’s network here; it is definitely impressive. The asset itself is what I have a problem with to hold.
