@brettdash_ Twitter is so media illiterate it’s insane
You could say the same thing about Hot Ones, Career Ladder, etc.
Some is PR. Some isn’t.

Here’s how this actually works:
As people are starting to realize… individuals are media companies now.
Like any media company, there’s a mix.
There’s original content, and in this case, him actually going up to people and interviewing them.
He had to start somewhere…
And then there’s paid PR.
Once you have that level of reach, people will pay to be featured. He’s probably getting inbound constantly, and it also makes sense to outbound it as a business.
That’s not new. That’s how media has always worked.
So no, it’s not “all staged.”
It’s a blend.
And I’ve personally seen him doing real interviews too and then denied, camped outside a Mark Cuban panel at SXSW trying to interview him.
That part doesn’t get talked about.

Have you seen the kid on social media who interviews rich people on the street and asks them "what they do for a living?" A big PR guy told me it's all fake/scripted. Pitched/sold to rich wannabe influencers to reach a younger audience. All staged.

@disneystore Glad Disney finally saw sense, sequel trilogy mech was ALWAYS a loss leader....we neither needed it or wanted it.

Marvel Studios was reportedly hit hard in the Disney layoffs today
• Nearly the entire visual development team was let go — many there for over a decade
• Only a skeleton crew remains in place to coordinate hiring on a per-project basis
• Disney overall is laying off 1,000+ employees

When people say AI will replace creators
they’re really talking about UGC ad creators for brands
“content as a service” gets commoditized
AI will eat a lot of that imo
including most generic “entertaining” content
but content as a relationship is different
the creators people actually follow
…the ones with taste, identity, and trust
those won’t get replaced as easily
In fact, they have even more leverage
Brycent@brycent
One of the worst takes ever: AI will replace content creators. Aging like spoiled milk 😭

Latest J.Crew campaign looks like their 90s catalogues mashed with a teen streaming show like Outer Banks or TSITP
The thing I keep wondering about them is how they’ve leaned on the prep catalogue aesthetic of eras past. Is this the key to growth?
Do American shoppers today want northeast bubble culture enough for it to drive commercial success?
A&F has notably not clung to their 90s/00s identity, transitioning into a world of faux-tree camo, sporty and rich lookalikes, and sweat sets. This paid off
American Eagle has been sort of saved by Aerie, which succeeded by positioning as Gen-Z Victoria’s Secret (IMO)
Gap on the flip side is seeing a turnaround of its own, returning to their dance-ad roots — but only emotionally, as their distinctly TikTok generation feel is not the Gap aesthetic of the 90s. (This thanks to former Aritzia CMO and former Yzy Gap creative lead)
While J.Crew’s prep catalog aesthetic revival may reinforce brand heritage —something the brands above haven’t been precious with — I can’t help but wonder if what they’re reaching for still exists

@rfkenmore Makes sense these are my two favorite brands rn
