It's against the law, Robert. We, as a state, have voted on this issue 11 times. We've overwhelmingly shot it down each time. Our constitution prohibits an income tax that is selectively applied. Whether you like the tax or not is immaterial. It's illegal
Robert Cruickshank@cruickshank

This crashout over WA adopting an income tax, which nearly every other state in the union has, is comical to watch. I get the arguments against CA’s “billionaire” wealth tax, that’s a fundamentally different policy approach than a simple income tax targeting the rich.

Starting our 12 county “whistle stop” tour of E. Washington in Franklin County. Franklin county is a big agricultural producer and processor and is also home to the Hanford nuclear reservation - which helped create America’s nuclear arsenal and is now home to cutting edge research. Great people here. We ❤️ Franklin County! 🇺🇸

@PNWConservative Except for that tiny problem about the majority of voters and legislators not wanting to do this….you seem to keep forgetting that part but anyone with an above average IQ understands this of course.

@RepBaumgartner You’re party controls Congress and the a presidency and decided to try mid decade redistricting rather than passing a law to ban gerrymandering. Whine more.

It would be better for the unity of the future of the Republic if every state’s Congressional representation mirrored their electorate. For example, Washington State is 40% Republican but Rs hold only 2 out of 10 House seats. For representative Democracy to work, people need to feel like they have a fair chance to participate in it. 🇺🇸

@JimWalshLD19 Probably more taxes on the extremely wealthy as their CPAs restructure businesses and find new loopholes and more tax credits for the working class. Would love to see the CCA reformed so all revenue less administrative expense is returned equally to all Washingtonians.

@BoomerDivvies Because while you are right about expectations, the ratio between median home price and median wage skyrocketed. But only low IQs don’t understand this.

@KatieDaviscourt My hometown in Eastern WA was a sundown town until the 60’s meaning African Americans had to leave before sundown and even once that ended they couldn’t buy homes for many more years. History 101

Since 2022 I have noticed a trend. When I first started on X people like Patty had about 70% support to 30% opposition. Now... it is 90% all negative. WA voters are tired of Patty. She is weak, ineffective, and dishonest. While the cost of living skyrockets and economic opportunities are slipping away she gives us more of the same tired speeches and advocates for more of the same failed policy that has lead us here. This will be her last term.
Senator Patty Murray@PattyMurray

Trump campaigned on lowering costs, helping families, and putting America first. He's breaking every one of those promises and demanding we slash investments in American families to fund reckless foreign wars.

@VietQNguyen lol. The court has changed since 1933 and along with that, the constitutionality of a recently passed uniform 10% tax on all income with an exemption for income less than $1M has not been decided.

@RealCoryMiller The constitutionality was already decided by the court in 1933 in Culliton and 1936 in Jensen.

@VietQNguyen Correct, so they pass a law, and if it’s challenged, the courts decide. Since they haven’t decided, it’s constitutional until such time the court find otherwise.

Are you actually wealthy? If you have $2.5 million invested? Yes. At $2.5 million invested that’s ~10,500/mo of cash flow. ….You’re completely set for life.

Safe and secure’ vote-by-mail? The same system where your DOL left a backdoor open for five years exposing millions of Washingtonians’ data? And now you’re suing the other Washington because they want USPS to only mail ballots to actual eligible voters? Dude, if it was so safe and secure you wouldn’t be fighting tooth and nail to hide the voter rolls.
Attorney General Nick Brown@AGOWA

Washington is back in court co-leading a lawsuit to defend our state’s safe and secure vote-by-mail system. On March 31, President Trump signed an unlawful executive order attempting to establish a national list of eligible voters and directing the U.S. Postal Service, an independent federal agency, to transmit mail ballots only to those on the list. But the President does not have authority to do that. The Constitution makes clear that states and Congress control how elections are run. Learn more here: ow.ly/E2eP50YCViY
