Paul Kagame stands out from that list, no question. Look at what he met when he took over โ€“ a country torn apart, people scattered, trust gone. Today Rwanda moves different. Streets stay clean, people walk at night without fear, and the economy keeps pushing forward even when times get hard. They built their own systems, pushed their own plans, and focused on making things work for Rwandans first instead of waiting for outsiders to approve every move. Here in Nigeria we know the story too well. We see leaders who talk big about transformation but the same old problems โ€“ fuel queues one day, insecurity the next, contracts that favor friends while the average man struggles to feed his family. Electricity that comes and goes like a visitor. Youths with degrees but no real opportunities, so they either hustle abroad or settle for less. We have the numbers, the land, the people, yet the results donโ€™t match. Kagame didnโ€™t wait for perfect conditions. He chose discipline over excuses. He made security non-negotiable, cut out the kind of corruption that eats deep into government, and turned Kigali into a place investors actually want to come to. Not because he borrowed the loudest or made the sweetest promises, but because the place became orderly and serious. Thatโ€™s the uncomfortable part many of us avoid. Itโ€™s not about tribe or how long someone has been in power. Itโ€™s about whether the man at the top is building something that lasts or just managing the chaos for personal gain. What would Nigeria look like if our own leaders treated public office with that same seriousness? Think about it quietly. The mirror is not always kind, but it shows what is possible when someone decides to lead without looking over their shoulder every five minutes.
