Zhalfir looks great but... much like with Ixalan and lack of Hispanic representation the way that was marketed it will take more than a couple sets to improve the black/brown problem in MTG. It's widely held this game isn't for us and we're not welcome in these spaces.

I know it's your job to shill but some cards are competitive and I have to see them as a UB card or use them regardless if I like the IP. If there were in universe versions it wouldn't be so bad. To add more context the Duel Commander nationals in France was won by the Ellie, Vengeful Hunter and Elllie, Brick Master which aren't on MTGO due to licensing. So it does affect things regardless how much you hand wave it.

If you don’t like Universes Beyond, don’t buy it. Last I checked there is no “universes beyond league” which you are forced to play at events.

I can curate 100 cards, pay outrageous shipping fees, and kit them together to sell a deck for $59.99. Meanwhile WotC prints the cardboard to sell 100 cards for $74.99. Are the IP licensing fees that high or is this just a high profit product?

I never said you were a scrub for only playing commander, but only playing commander you would not see the impact as there are a variety of functional lands and it's not a competitive format. My point was more legacy and vintage are suffering from this inability to get cards. You're incorrect that you can replace them. Surveils helped the issue but again you will lose percentage points and be locked out of decks. It's not elitism I'm speaking from, I want people to be able to play the formats.

@jupiterbrandos Allowing people to draw after a counterspell or discard spell will make those spells unplayable. Because most of the time you're still down by exchanging 1 for 1 these days. 1 good creature or CA spell and it completely negates all that work.

cards like this are always traps and people always fall for them during spoiler season. You've spent 2 mana to take a card, they get another and now you've got a 2/2 with lifeline in play. That is below rate for any format
