At one time, MTG was grounded in the idea that the cards represented two wizards dueling with spells. The UB sets are completely divorced from that foundation, leaving the flavor of the game adrift in a capitalist hellscape. I genuinely dont think its a fixable problem.

Zhalfir looks great but... much like with Ixalan and lack of Hispanic representation the way that was marketed it will take more than a couple sets to improve the black/brown problem in MTG. It's widely held this game isn't for us and we're not welcome in these spaces.

The way Mark frames it is exactly that. It’s corporate speak. He’s saying your options as a long time player are: 1. Accept the game you love is no longer catering to you, the long time player. 2. Stick to your commander or premodern groups. 3. Eat shit. There is a very easy way to return. Stop printing UB. Let it rotate out and remove problematic cards and let it be a bad mark on its history.
