LEGENDS OF POLK’S PAST: Colt Hankamer, IF (Baseball) A member of Head Coach Al Corbeil’s first two teams at Polk State College, Cole Hankamer played a major role in helping the Eagles win consecutive Suncoast Conference championships. As a freshman in 2011, Hankamer helped Polk State win 43 games – a program record at the time. In the process, Hankamer was recognized as a first-team All-Suncoast performer, hitting .318 with one home run, 32 RBIs and five stolen bases. As a sophomore in 2012, Hankamer helped Polk State beat the previous season’s win record with 46 victories and win the FCSAA Tournament for just the second time. As the Eagles went on to reach the JUCO World Series for the first time ever, Hankamer was recognized as a second-team All-Suncoast selection. For the year, he hit .284 with career-highs of two homers, 37 RBIs and two stolen bases. Hankamer would go on to conclude his career at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, an NCAA Division II program in Daytona Beach. Over two seasons at Embry-Riddle, Hankamer played in 65 games with 42 starts. During Hankamer’s junior year of 2013, the Eagles won 50 games, The Sun Conference and reached the NAIA World Series. Embry-Riddle won 40 games and again reached the NAIA National Tournament in 2014.
