@RealRudebwoy81 In primary school, we are taught that Guanahani (at the time),one of our islands was the first place that Columbus came to and after seeing the people he named it the West Indies and that term was carried out for the rest of the Caribbean. So, the few don’t represent the majority
English

The term “The Caribbean” has never been used to specify ONLY islands located in the Caribbean Sea. It’s based on history, culture etc. So the whole “The Bahamas isn’t apart of the Caribbean” narrative is tired and worn out…
Abandon, Wild@ToniGarrisonJM
When since we don't consider Bahamas a part of the Caribbean? Stop being weird cause never have I ever heard this before. Go outside and touch grass.
English

@kevinobriencha1 Sir, respectfully, you're speaking rubbish! The media cannot make decisions based on 'lets not make the countrty look bad to tourists'... utter rubbish!
English

Jamaica Jan-Apr Murder Rate ⬇️63% 2023-26.
35 year low.
Lower than Barbados for first time in over 50 years.
Headline frightens tourists worldwide with a 2 week old domestic violence incident
Scares returning residents with 'safety concerns'
Our media needs to do better

@maxtop123 @ToniGarrisonJM Exactly, that is what I remember as well, from going to school with Bahamians in Florida.... They would not even attend the Caribbean events and spoke in an American accent....
English

@ToniGarrisonJM There was a time when Bahamanians thought they were something else and above Caribbean ppl. The hurricane a few yrs back showed them that America cared not one whit about them.
English

@ToniGarrisonJM I think that's mainly because many Bahamians don't consider themselves Caribbean and would rather be seen as a 51st state of America
English

@RealRudebwoy81 @RealBloodTrail @Yan_Angelic I have never heard Indo Trinis talk about Jamaicans. Now Guyanese people...hell yeah they beef.
English

@PyroClipz @SableJoy_ Nah bro, most of us dont mind Bahamians...
English

@RealRudebwoy81 @SableJoy_ Nah I love them actually it’s them who hate us! We love them and their music but somehow they always negative when it comes to us! It’s like an obsession
English

@pr3ziii @Alexander_1link @tititiannaf 😆😆😆... Personally, I have a love/hate relationship with my people... cant stand dem sometimes with their arrogance, buts its they who make us great.... the greatest Jamaicans are arrogant, from Garvey to Bolt
English

@Alexander_1link @tititiannaf Thank you, we get it Jamaica has its problems but bbc unu can easy morewhile anuh like we ah Iraq
English

@PyroClipz @SableJoy_ Lol, damn bro...Let that hate out 😆.... You hate dem yardies bwoy, jahjah
English

@SableJoy_ Coming from a Jamaican we expect yall to be negative towards us, we ain’t boring when yall coming here for work and selling pussy
English

@llemytheecon That is right. Such a great period that was. Many of us were forced to watch cricket as kids too because those were the days before cable was popular and our parents monopolized the TV when cricket was on, so no Nintendo.
English

@RealRudebwoy81 so we know the players, the grounds, and learned even a bit about the islands
English

I blame the decline of cricket. Growing up, my heroes were from all over the region. The other islands seem an abstract concept to many.
Lij@lijitimate
Lol I know all that unity was gonna end up in a Caribbean war. Predictable as hell 😂.
English

@Iamthedamion @kappa_dan64 @nia_lee7 Wrong. We sell our best beaches to private interests who make it inaccesible to locals. Our public beaches lack adequate investment. In other islands, all beaches are public & way cleaner than ours. In fact, a hotelier halted a development in Bdos becuz the beach would be public.
English

It means other Caribbean countries do not invest in their beaches like Jamaica does yall just have a body of water where ppl swim. Jamaica has private individuals that purchase the beach front and curated an experience that is what is paid for the experience not beach but their free beaches the public can access but ppl want to access the beach experience that has been curated by private individual for free
English

The free beach discussion all week
Minister Of Enjoyment@mikey_esquire
Y’all have allowed these fuckass people to be speaking down on Jamaica too easily.
English

@TopGirlKeiko @Kelthetruth Hell yeah, that's what us regular folks eat (And I am "from the hills" as well) and most people can identify with.... Hellshire is cool too though, but logistically it just couldnt fit in..... As you can see it was just Kingston
English

I didn’t like Speed’s Jamaican tour. There are so many fun things to do in Jamaica. Yes, partying is fun, and trying Jamaican famous meals is cool, but he still didn’t get Boston jerk nor Hellshire fish & Lobster. And he didn’t visit anywhere nice. I would have planned a top tier visit for him.
English

@thatgirlalwaysb @RealBloodTrail @Yan_Angelic Agreed. Its primarily just banter. We unite when we need to.
English

@RealRudebwoy81 @RealBloodTrail @Yan_Angelic In real life trinis and Jamaican have no beef, social media is fake , it’s one love irl
English

@RealBloodTrail @Yan_Angelic We celebrate ourselves, yes.... But we NEVER punch down unless we are provoked.... Jamaicans mainly only talk sh1t about Trinis because it is strongly believed that they dont like us, especially the Indians
English

@Yan_Angelic Jamaicans are the reason nobody like them. They just nuff and think everything is about them, the second someone say something about jamaica oh go suck out yo mudda, then they get in they feeling and start cussing out your island. Like if you really think jamaica was all that
English

@Bigmaceaterrr @Yan_Angelic You must be a real bitch ni@@a to call her bitch for standing up for Jamaica
English

@calvinebarongo @Darvayye Ackee is an acquired taste... If you're not Jamaican and didn't grow up on it, it is completely understandable that you wont like it.
English

@Darvayye Nop, never couldn’t even beat a badly cooked curry goat! I lived in Junction, St.Elizabeth in Dec and the hotel fed me Ackee and Saltfish for breakfast until I started skipping breakfast
English

@ChenelleTyler Yup, that's why its dumb for Kamla to be threatening to pull out of Caricom which T&T benefits from the most because your cost of production is the lowest and Jamaica is a relatively huge market. Pulling out of Caricom would make your prices the same as non-Caricom countries.
English

Soo i discovered on one Jamaica Day (when the office had to bring Jamaican snacks and drinks) alot of Jamaicans did not realise that alot of the snacks they consume & enjoy are Trini snacks. Its so common there, they think its theirs.
Nyssa@kneezurr
Jamaica why ….. would y’all give him Trini snacks…..? Signed, A confused Trini
English

@Trinipapaboiz @ToniGarrisonJM Trinis need to chill... On IG and FB i see yall claiming Trinidad invented reggae, now I'm seeing your goofy post.... Man yall have a serious complex.... stop trying to size up to Jamaica, you'll always lose... yall not built like us...
English

@ToniGarrisonJM Actually you do....
You had time to see what speed experienced in the other islands so you mixed it up a bit.
But generally you offer what all islands (except Trini) offer.
And I see those Jamacian adverts promoting tourism all the time
English

With the sincerest respect (actually), Jamaica 🇯🇲 simply does not have to rely on the stereotypical island representations that others may have to.
Our cultural output is rich and diverse beyond measure. Many countries many times our size can't boast that 🫶🏾
UndercoverBrother@MarkTheIllest1
@KrissyLionz For me it's Trinidad, St. Lucia and Puerto Rico. As much as Jamaica was great, it sorta missed out on the "island" side of things.
