Even a full paper recount or audit would count the altered ballot as legitimate, making fraud invisible. Undermines "paper ballot" security theater. The whole "trust the paper trail" argument collapses when the machine itself can cheat after you leave. This pure design flaw or purposeful feature turns this machine into a potential election weapon to steal elections.
