Man makes friend with an alien that's a rock. They kill amoeba to save their homeworlds.
Okay... Sorry, that still sounds interesting.

@realbenbriggs @TD_Barrett @JeromeChukwuwem From my perspective I don't see this purported visibility, and so I'm glad for the ecumenism. There *should* be one Church, but asserting it doesn't help make it so in real life.
English

@TD_Barrett @ReasonableTrout @JeromeChukwuwem How many churches do we confess in the creed?
Is that one Church visible and incarnate on Earth, or is it invisible and “just an idea man”?
English

@Sacramentshow For the same reason we have teachers in other areas of life outside of theology. It's incredibly useful either way.
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me". Isn't that epistemic independence?
English

@TD_Barrett @JeromeChukwuwem Sounds like an effect rather than a cause. That's the "saved" part in "by grace through faith you have been saved".
English

@JeromeChukwuwem Of course there is. Every Protestant affirms that God regenerates the soul, pours love into it, converts it and orients it towards and unites it with Himself. They just don’t think this change is sufficient to serve as the formal cause.

@logistrix In general an adult's actions pretty much reflect their spiritual state, so if they don't sin that would be evidence for a good spiritual state. I just want to point out that the shared substrate of our actions is not the ground truth, it's the lens we see it through.
English

@logistrix Sorry I just realized I got my yes and no mixed up in what I had said
The definite and concrete nature of living is inherently restrictive, some cases more or less than others (mental issues, culture, money, power) but it's a spectrum.

@PolyesterMather Cooling is pretty much linearly proportional to surface area. A tilt of 45 degrees would cool about 41% faster, not considering cooling through the mug itself.
English

I have a dumb physics question for those of you smarter than me. If I have a hot mug of coffee the surface of the coffee must be a circle but if I tip the mug and the oval made by the surface of the coffee intersecting the cylinder of the mug now has a larger area will my coffee cool faster?
English

@ManassehRJones Orthodox do believe in some kind of theosis but it’s not the Joseph Smith kind. I don’t fully understand it.

@Bas3dPhilosophy @romanhelmetguy Yeah that makes sense I guess. Can be content with what you get from tv rather than re-investing it into more imagination.
English

@ReasonableTrout @romanhelmetguy Because people stop daydreaming and being mentally creative, they just watch TV instead
