Inspired by a trip to Italy, Mazzella took up painting in 1993 and turned his sunroom into a studio. At Cantor Fitzgerald, he was a senior vice president for equity sales. On 9/11—three days before his retirement date—Mazzella was at work on the North Tower’s 104th floor. He was 62 years old.
