BREAKING NEWS The 2025 #NobelPrize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to Mary E. Brunkow, Fred Ramsdell and Shimon Sakaguchi “for their discoveries concerning peripheral immune tolerance.”

This alternative splicing is regulated, and each isoform is required for the function of specific neuron types. Microexons of genes in the same family of synaptic proteins (MUN domain family) have similar cell-specificity and regulation across animal species.

Microexons are alternatively spliced according to neuronal cell type.

Together, these results reveal that a pair of RBPs mediate lifespan in part by inhibiting expression of an ion transporter, and provide a template for how synthetic phenotypes (including lifespan) can be dissected at the transcriptomic level to reveal potential causative genes.
