.@AlboMP Re your proposition that it’s not possible to stop new fossil fuel projects because it would “damage” the economy. Can you please: 1. Share the modelling underpinning your proposition. 2. Explain how we can have a functioning economy without a safe climate? #auspol

unique and irreplaceable flora, fauna and ecosystems. It’s completely counterproductive and frankly stupid to be making Parks staff redundant in circumstances where there is a pressing need for more rather than less staff. Please ensure that Parks Victoria is properly funded 3/4

The Victorian government deserves a pat on the back for delivering the apology and treaty @JacintaAllanMP and @NatHutchins. However the government has dropped the ball badly on the critical issue of caring for country. Here in Wadawurrung country volunteers work with 1/4

PM’s office directs lobbyists to use encrypted, disappearing messages (So when odious industries like gambling, fossil fuels etc. provide ‘suggestions’ (aka directions) to a government they ‘donate’ to the public won’t know?! 💰🙈🙉 #auspol #transparency) thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/politics/…

When Senator Canavan is interviewed climate science is basically ignored. It’s all breezy one liners that proceed on the flawed premise that cutting emissions is ideological and optional. And as usual @abc730 made no attempt to challenge him. Very poor.👎 #auspol #NetZero #abc730

After his embarrassing performance advocating the #LNP’s cloth eared “nuclear” policy one wonders if Ted O’Brien is the best person to persuade voters that the opposition are competent economic managers … #auspol #abc730

While being sceptical that the opposition would embrace sensible centrist policies I had an open mind until the ludicrous dumping of the very modest target of net zero by 2050. Now I struggle to think of any scenario where they could win my vote.🤠🤡 #abc730 #auspol #netzero

Pressed to outline how the LNP will reduce emissions with their new energy plan, Sussan Ley says they’ll rely on “breakthrough technologies” in about “25 years time”😳 - ones not invented yet & “we’re not talking about today”🤔 There you have it. As bonkers as it gets. #auspol

The world hasn’t raised the white flag — even if the White House has. At COP in Belém there’s real momentum for stronger climate action. Deniers lost the science fight, so the new denial is delay. Australia should cut emissions to drive jobs and prosperity.

@mattjcan If the COALition was actually interested in lowering power prices for Australians it would get behind the inevitable transition to the cheapest form of new generation, rather than tweeting this sort of nonsense … 🙄

@ReclaimAnglesea I disagree. They have a definite plan which they have successfully implemented for two decades. Inaction is a complete win for them.

The opposition is absolutely embarrassing on energy policy. They have no plan in relation to the energy transition or emissions reduction and they clearly don’t understand how the Paris Agreement (which Abbott signed Australia up to!) works. 🙈🙉🤡🤠 #abc730 #auspol

Abandoning our kids. And theirs. For fossil fuel donors. It’s that simple. Selling out the future. Australia’s young generation will be asking, what use is democracy when science can be sold out for power, their future mortgaged to fill the pockets of the greedy, people that are already billionaires and so in love with wealth, they will leave it to our kids to clean up their mess. Our kids will pay the price through exorbitant or no insurance, trillions in aftermath of natural disasters, endless immigration wars as mass movements of people need a safe place. It’s not about Australia solving or even leading, as we so often hear, but about doing our part, to be in a stronger position to push the rest of the world. In the end, the problem is that sun and wind are free and, when harnessed properly, not only leave the environment cleaner, but costs down. Low costs = low profit. For all the dressing up and endless pantomimes, this is just profit over people. Disgraceful.
