The developers of Subnautica 2 want to keep the game non-violent like the first one. They want players to adapt and live with the ocean creatures instead of fighting or killing them with weapons. One developer explained "I think it's a point of resistance that we'll get repeatedly while making the game though we feel strongly about it." So players must instead use smart tools evasion and distraction to survive.

@D3MOCRAC7 no, that would ruin the gameplay loop. almost everything on proteus is stronger faster and better than you, that's the point. it's made very clear in both games that you can't do meaningful harm for a reason - if you trap and stab a reaper leviathan to death, you get nothing

@Recna8 @Fingusa @Pirat_Nation Yes, you can, and it kills the atmosphere if you do. Prawn suit makes killing everything easy as hell, it's the point in the game where you aren't really vulnerable anymore and there is no risk in exploration.

@Pirat_Nation The point of resistance comment is so accurate. Players always try to optimize the fun out of games by destroying threats. Forcing them to adapt to the environment is a much more rewarding puzzle.
