This is a potential death sentence for political refugees from places like Russia or China. Not to mention, it jeopardizes a large chunk of US tech entrepreneurship. Let’s not?

An alien who is in the U.S. temporarily and wants a Green Card must return to their home country to apply. This policy allows our immigration system to function as the law intended instead of incentivizing loopholes. The era of abusing our nation’s immigration system is over.

@MD_pause Physicians from other countries are desperately needed in those countries, it is an egregious humans rights violation to keep the physicians away from their impoverished homelands.

This decision will severely damage U.S. physician retention. Foreign physicians often spend 7 to 11 years in the U.S. before obtaining a green card. Many are structurally barred from permanent residency unless they first complete years of residency or fellowship, then serve another 3 to 5 years in underserved communities through J-1 waiver programs. After a decade of training, paying taxes, treating American patients, and filling critical shortages, telling them to leave the U.S. and wait abroad for a green card is absurd, especially when they may then face a travel ban. The message is clear: America wants immigrant doctors’ labor, but not their stability. That is how you destroy recruitment and retention. If you are an IMG thinking of coming to the U.S., please don’t. #PhysicianShortage #IMGs #ImmigrantDoctors #HealthcareCrisis #J1Waiver #Conrad30 #LiftTheHold #USCISPause #SaveOurDoctors #RuralHealthcare #PhysicianRetention #MedicalWorkforce #KeepDoctorsInAmerica #HealthcareAccess #FixLegalImmigration

My mom uses fake social media accounts to spy on people and spread rumors — even about family. When confronted, she threatened to do the same to my son. What should I do? Advice columnist Carolyn Hax weighs in.

🇺🇸The hunger and labor strike inside Delaney Hall ICE detention center in New Jersey has now entered its second day. People outside set up tents to hand out donations and support families visiting detainees. Still human after all.

It was’t really about “illegal” immigration. Trump is forcing people already here legally — spouses of US citizens, startup founders — to abandon their families & companies, leave the US, and wait for his approval to come back. His disdain for immigrants knows no bounds.

@SenWarren These are unskilled workers doing basic labor for slave wages. Everyone’s lives improve by sending the Haitians back to their vibrant and beautiful homeland and soulless medical companies have to pay black Americans competitive wages.

If Donald Trump ends legal protections for Haitian workers, everyone will suffer. Our health care system is already on the brink of collapse thanks to Trump, and this decision would put patient care at risk nationwide. We must keep fighting back.

Immigrants in the United States who are married to a US citizen typically could apply for a green card (permanent resident status) from within the US. Trump now wants to make them apply from abroad, potentially leading to prolonged family separation. trib.al/PnzbC9H

An odd move. The Green card is the only path to citizenship for immigrants & is a heavily vetted process. All this does is disincentivize & constrain legal immigration, while making Canada, Germany etc even more attractive destinations for H-1B and student visas at expense of US

most Americans do not support this. when Dems regain power they should focus on the most popular immigrants -- educated legal ones -- instead of on amnesty for illegal immigrants so that we can regain and keep the public's trust on this issue

A handful of Republican lawmakers have become more vocal in their criticisms of the White House in recent weeks. Some have begun calling them the "YOLO caucus," because, for a variety of reasons, they are now able to throw caution to the wind and speak their conscience, even when it doesn't align with President Trump.
