Workers at the @Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester city centre have taken the historic decision to unionise at one of the largest hotel chains in the world✊ In the days after submitting a collective grievance, staff faced derogatory comments for engaging in Union activity and refusal from management to even consider the request for formal union recognition - a basic workers’ right. More seriously, they believe they are being subject to Union Victimisation through suspected breach of surveillance laws and the suspension of a team member involved in the union. Three workers involved in the campaign have said: "Breaking our backs for lazy management that don’t care about our wellbeing in and out of work has to stop. Having our concerns repeatedly ignored has forced us to join together to fight for a better workplace." "Hospitality workers face some of the lowest pay and worst working conditions in the UK.
