Die Raffination des Silbers (Verarbeitung von Rohsilber zu hochreinem Feinsilber) verbraucht rund 4.600 MWh Strom. Das entspricht dem Jahresstromverbrauch von rund 1.440 deutschen Haushalten. Die Herstellung des Aluminiums verbraucht fast 2 Millionen Gigajoule Energie. Damit könnte man mehr als 300.000 Haushalte ein Jahr lang mit Strom versorgen. Die Photovoltaikanlagen werden mit einem massiven Einsatz an fossilen Energien hergestellt. Nur das Endergebnis wird als „grün“ bezeichnet.
