I would disagree!
I carried 8 gels at the NYC Marathon and took ~120g of carbs per hour.
Just need some good half tights with lots of pockets.

The fueling strategies of the elite runners is very intriguing. Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter to the average or even “fast”runner who can’t have special aide stations with carbs via bottles during a marathon.
