I always think NF where he turns rap into a metaphorical story of his inner dialogue and turns them into badically movies.
Its not impossible but hard to replicate in other genres.

@davepl1968 I am curious what makes you think IQs over 160. Genuinely. I feel IQ tests do a bad job and some people you can just tell. I have always been curious about mine and have a friend who is incredibly smart and breezed through med school, but I feel like his is maybe 140-145?

While 90% of the smartest people I've ever met are likely neurodivergent, the two smartest among them were not.
They're in the 165/170+ range, completely normal, coordinated, socially adept, and frankly, it's a little frustrating.
Privilege comes in many forms, I guess!

Once you hit about a 20-point IQ gap, communication starts to completely break down. It's not that the lower IQ person is "stupid" (although that can often be the case) or the higher one is arrogant, it's that you're literally operating on different systems. A 20 point difference (roughly 1.3 standard deviations) means: Vocabulary and abstraction levels diverge sharply. What feels like crystal clear logic to one side sounds like vague, pretentious word salad to the other. Jokes land flat. Metaphors get taken literally. Complex cause and effect chains get simplified into "this good, that bad." Different time horizons and pattern recognition. One person thinks in months or years and sees systems, the other is locked into days or immediate rewards. Trying to explain second order effects feels like speaking another language. Also, processing speed and working memory gaps. The higher IQ person is already three steps ahead, getting impatient. The lower IQ person feels talked down to or overwhelmed. Both walk away frustrated. Both have wasted each others time.

@slantofreality What I DO know as someone studying pharmacy is that we want to achieve a steady state concentration for basic pain management and then occasional break through dosing for more extreme pain. Following standard procedure, hyperalgesia should not be an issue due to the steady state.

Isn’t it INSANE how opioid induced hyperalgesia has never been proven in humans yet it’s regularly cited as a reason to take people’s pain medication away?
Then they’ll put these people back on gabapentin with the very real risk of dementia.

@ibdgirl76 No, not “many” patients have Opioid-Induced Hyperalgesia. It has never been proven to exist in humans and - at most -is a rare phenomenon. PROP anti-opioid zealots politically pressured FDA into including it on opioid labeling without sufficient evidence of its existence.

Putting excel on a resume is a good thing to do bc it’s not really a ubiquitous skill. Most people aren’t aware of most of excel’s functions beyond typing data into cells

@ChadSlimeBased If someone does that, it better be impressive. For me, I used Excel to render a 4k image, triple the speed of stock counting while improving accuracy at my job, sort and filter a PDF for unique invoices, etc

My intuition about geometry was catastrophically wrong.
I never knew that, in high dimensions, spheres effectively disappear.
By 100 dimensions, an inscribed sphere occupies a smaller fraction of its cube than a proton occupies of the observable universe.
By 500 dimensions, the volume is smaller than what standard floating-point arithmetic can even represent.
