The private sector is legally obligated to act in the interest of its shareholders. ACA just redistributes wealth without addressing any of the underlying problems with government interference in healthcare. It was literally written by the healthcare lobby. If we had a fully free market healthcare plan it would be much cheaper and much more efficient. Of course really poor people still wouldn't be able to afford it but stop blaming capitalism for what either the private sector or government does. Capitalism is the system not the players.

The ACA is a compromise that still allows parasitic middle men (insurance) to run the show. Many people saw prices go down & many people entered the healthcare system who were previously uninsured.

I paid $120 per month for Kaiser in California. After Obamacare the price went to $300, so I moved onto my employers plan which was $150 (but my employer subsidized $200. Today Kaiser is $206 and they subsidize $300. But because I'm in Nevada I pay $516 for a PPO at United Health and my employer subsidizes $700. It's retarded prices, shut up.

Is this the first time you’ve ever engaged with this idea? If you make $0 you pay nothing. But what happens if you make more than $0? Then you are forced to pay, at gun point, and if you refuse they will put you in a box, and if you refuse to go to the box then they will kill you. So you can argue that you think this is a good thing, but you can’t argue that it’s not what’s happening. Property taxes cover the cost of administration? Is that the only way? Obviously not because property taxes were not enacted the moment the government came into existence. So again, you’re forced to admit another argument holds no water. Do I think the government should protect my land for free? Of course not, I would gladly pay for the government or private companies to protect my land. Again, an argument that holds no water. I would just pay for the services I desired. The reason you think it’s stupid is because you can’t engage honestly with what I’m saying, because it completely undermines your entire ideology, and if you’re like most people your ideology has become your personality, it’s part of you, and any attack on your ideology becomes a personal attack on you as a person. But there’s actually no reason it has to be the way that it is today. There’s plenty of wiggle room and argument to be had, it’s just not where you’re having it. A fully libertarian position is open borders, but obviously that doesn’t reconcile with reality because it leads to your country being conquered and losing your liberty. Someone does have to enforce laws, there does need to be some amount of centralized power. But none of this is anywhere near an argument for the status quo and it’s miles away from any of the arguments you’re making. Don’t even answer, we’re deep in the replies and nobody will ever know, just think about it.
