As per your last argument, saying they cost us a lot: I agree! We can say that now, because we see it. But it wasn't obvious 15-20 years ago that importing third worlders would actually be a weight on society. Probably people expected these third worlders were going to be useful, not the degenerate clowns that we realize they are.
Now it's getting clearer, but it's still debated.
Also, we would actually need to try to remigrate foreigners and see if we can still pay out the pensions for our elderlies. It's not guaranteed, there's not that many millennials or GenZ.
If not, it means less money for pensions, means potentially retired people having to work again part time to make ends meet.
That's a potential reality. I'm fine with it. I'd vote remigration knowing full well the consequences.
But who will block that vote? Those who receive the pensions. Boomers.
