@DavWarren3 @BadgedPatriot Wow, I was left alone from 830 to noon and 1245 till 5 when I was 6to turning 7 that summer. Nobody thought anything of it.
English

@BadgedPatriot I've always thought the law in most states was 8 years old to be home alone? That lady who is real mad has no idea what is actually happening in the world if that's what she is concerned about
English

A neighbor called 911 to report a 12 yr old girl home alone with her 6 yr old brother. I went to the door of the 12 yr old & knocked & initially she didn't answer the door. I then announced myself & she did.
I spoke to the girl for about 5 min & in doing so determined in my mind that she was mature enough that she could safely handle being there alone with her brother.
I went to speak to the complainant & the woman disagreed that the two kids shouldn't be there alone. She said kids are kids & should never be left at home much less one child watching another child. She demanded I get child services out to investigate the parents. I advised the woman I'd make no such call to child services, my investigation was done, & if she wanted to file a complaint with child services she could & I'd gladly speak to them & advise of my findings. She then slammed the door in my face & started shouting from inside that cops are worthless. 🫤
I returned to my cruiser to leave & she was looking out her blinds at me so, as I pulled out, I waved & tapped my air horn to enjoy a nice community policing encounter as I left 😁👮♂️🚔

I pray for 79 F in the summer. I actually keep my a/c on 74 F because I am too cold walking in after the 95F +. Funny though, summer and fall are my favorite times of the year. Cookouts, pools, reading books on my porch in the morning, a cold glass of sweet tea in the evening on said porch- nothing like it.
English

79F is not F'n lethal or even close to it.

@45454545me @ClayTravis That’s what I keep wondering. Nag us? Call us names? Glue themselves to the street and wear costumes? I am not exactly sure what she wants them to pull up and do.
English

@ClayTravis Pull up to the south? What does that even mean? Another word salad
English

@jennifersusanh1 @michaelwgehl @chuckdawg95 @SamaHoole Been a bit since I was bedside. (15 years), but occasionally, we served beer for the severe alcholics. In burn ICU, we put people on alcohol drips to prevent DT’s in b the ICU. They were too fragile to chance DTs.
English

@michaelwgehl @chuckdawg95 @SamaHoole At least in the USA, administration of small amounts of medical ethanol to severe alcoholics accounts for maybe 1% of all patients. Benzodiazepines and phenobarbital are the gold standard in a hospital setting.
English

If you go into hospital as an alcoholic, they don't put a bottle of vodka on your bedside table and titrate the dose.
They remove the alcohol.
If you go into hospital as a heroin addict, they don't hand you a syringe with the meal tray.
They remove the heroin.
If you go into hospital as a smoker, they don't wheel you outside every two hours for a cigarette break.
They remove the cigarettes.
If you go into hospital as a type 2 diabetic, they bring you white toast, cornflakes, fruit juice, a jam sachet, and a sweetened yoghurt.
Then inject insulin to manage the blood sugar response.
Then write in your notes that your diabetes is "poorly controlled."
Every other addiction is treated by removing the substance.
The one driven by carbohydrate is treated by serving the substance and medicating the response.
Have a think about why.
English

When my kids were younger and expressed how they wanted to be different (at the time- goth), I was always accepting. I told them “you have a right to dress, feel, and act however you want, and I have the right to make fun of you mercilessly for it”. For some reason, they abandoned such ideas. Crazy how that works!
English

@marycatedelvey Yeah, he can dress whatever way he likes, but we're going to laugh at him, the daft wassock.
English

So, I work in this environment. It takes exactly one sentence in the chart to do a D&C. These drs seem negligent. I have done these hundreds of times. If a physician is that scared of a perceived threat, they need to resign. Last time I checked (a couple of months ago) no one has been prosecuted or even investigated for performing a D&C in a miscarriage situation (or any threat to Moms health). When reading about the sensationalized cases, there were many more reasons they didn’t rush to surgery- like stabilizing the patient and getting antibiotics in so they didn’t die in the first minute of surgery. Besides- who would bring it to court- the Mom or hospital?
English

@CunningLuthor @mdwfmom @MibshaD The parameter is that the doctor thinks the womans life is in danger.
It really isnt that hard. If I dont do x woman y will die. Most conservatives don't give that much of a fuck.
English

Update:
There is a sac, but no baby. No heartbeat. No fetus.
Because it’s still “attached,” I’m not allowed a D&C. It would be considered an abortion. So I’m being forced to carry this loss until my body lets go on its own.
Still feeling pregnant. Still hurting. Still grieving.
This is exhausting. This is cruel. This is healthcare right now.
Please keep us in your prayers. 🤍

@BigChief0_ @Rightanglenews Actually, I want anyone defacing historical monuments/ artifacts strung up by their nether-regions. I am equal opportunity.
English

@AppyOrtho I have a German and an Irish (married) ancestors that came sometime in the 1800’s. Otherwise, all the ancestors we can trace were here in the 1700’s. I am a descendant of Benjamin Franklin’s line. My ancestor was his brother.
English

I have no ancestors known to me that arrived after 1776 and I’ve done extensive family history (much of which I post on my account).
I am not rare, this is normal for Southerners. We are not related to the Ellis Island folks.
Nick Gerteis@nickgerteis
@AppyOrtho So your entire family tree solely traces back to ancestors that were here before 1776? Not just many of them, or most of them—all of them? That is not impossible, but it would be extremely rare and quite frankly unlikely.
English

@Reesewith3 @GeorgiasGiant Also how do you sue a company that isn’t breaking any rules because you just got rid of them? Like what are you on about.. things can be over regulated yeah but what are your examples of that? How big of an impact does it have?
English

One can sue for a host of things that is not illegal, but cause harm/ loss of $ or property. Overugulation is driving tons of unnecessary costs in every industry. Transportation, healthcare, building, food, etc. I am sure it is a bad example (it is early), but the first one that comes to mind is McDonald’s coffee. It isn’t illegal to serve it nuclear hot. A woman got burned and sued and won. McDonald’s was liable for a poor practice and causing harm.
English

In A quick cursory lookup, I am not finding anything about deregulating asbestos. Perhaps you can fill me in. Consumers can opt not to buy the product- that is how we stop it. It requires a population to take a bit of ownership when you do not live in a nanny state. And I believe that is a good thing. Personal responsibility is something I preach to my kids. My argument is that the government regulations do more harm than good and it is more efficient to let the market correct themselves. I saw low quality home builders go out of business for shoddy work- no one would buy it, and rightly so. They didn’t need to be regulated out of business. Competition/ capitalism will take care of itself if we let it.
English

@Reesewith3 @GeorgiasGiant Let’s use the asbestos example which they have just cleared for use again. How are consumers going to stop it being used? What reason is there to allow it to be used if no one will use it?
English

I actually give consumers a little more credit than that. Do you honestly believe the only thing keeping companies from using cancer causing chemicals is the government?? lol. No company wants to be sued into oblivion- that is the market correcting itself. I am a firm believer in Ronald Reagan’s comment about the worst words one can hear.
English

@Reesewith3 @GeorgiasGiant Well they are all by unregulated agency’s without enough government oversight. And you seriously think it’s a good idea to start using asbestos and pfas cancer causing shit? lol
English

Yes, and I am thrilled they are deregulating. I should have said until the last year, we are more regulated than ever before. My apologies I did not add that caveat. It still isn’t enough, but it is a start. However, we all know that this will be reversed by whatever the next administration takes over.
English

@Reesewith3 @GeorgiasGiant You sure about that? This current admin has already stated undoing most of the last two decades environmental and health regulation.

English

@MRachel1358 @GeorgiasGiant Look into plum island, MK ultra, the family jewels, Tuskegee experiment, etc. Frankly, our government is run by madmen and they certainly don’t have our health and well being at heart. I certainly don’t want them getting more power.
English

@Reesewith3 @GeorgiasGiant Care to expand on how? We dont own anything anymore lol
English

Objectively, we have more rules and regs now than we ever have. They rarely take away, only add more bureaucracy . The governments have created many of the monopolies through favors and lobbying. Most Scandinavian countries are relatively small, homogenous societies with the same goals and viewpoints. It does not work for a huge nation such as the US. The rules that look good in New England are useless or hindering in Oklahoma and vice versa.
English

@Reesewith3 @GeorgiasGiant They have been deregulating and privatizing for the last 5 decades. Look where that’s got us. Now look at the Scandinavian models where people and businesses can still be extremely successful and gov isn’t small favoring corps and billionaires.
English

@MRachel1358 @GeorgiasGiant I am also not convinced the government isn’t doing a substantial part of the poisoning!
English

@Reesewith3 @GeorgiasGiant I’m talking about deregulating things that concern our health. Ie allowing the use of asbestos again and allowing corporations to poison us to maximize their profits (pfas insecticide etc.)
English

That is where the market comes in. It is typically bad business to kill your customers. My FIL was a home builder. He had to put the same strapping on dormer windows in TN as are required in earthquake prone CA and hurricane zones in Florida. It added about 5k -10k to the window budget of a new home (in the early 2000’s). This is the type codes that cripple businesses and the reason I am not a fan of most government regulations. It drives up costs for the consumer. It then, I believe the government does very little good in general. Thus, I want them to worry about roads, military and that’s about it. We have ample agencies acting s watch dogs in the healthcare sector. They stifle innovation with it all the time.
English

@Spicey_Meatball @kerpen Yep, makes it richer and a bit creamy (bet the egg first).
English

@Reesewith3 @kerpen The raw egg is new to me. Worth it?
English

@danielle819 @SomeWelder No, my first boss just chased me around the store with handcuffs. I was 15 and he was fat, so I got away. He tried to say he was teasing.
English

@SomeWelder Xer here, so I’ll tell you to fuck all the way off. We had entry level opportunities that actually paid and bosses who weren’t trying to squeeze every penny.
We blew a ton of cash at bars on the weekends - something Z doesn’t do. A lot of us smoked.
