I distrusted Burke from the start. Burke oozed "slimy corpo" from the jump. He then set Ripley up to fail at the hearing so he could later "help" her with the offer and the mission. The only surprise with Burke is how evil he was, not that he was evil.

Depends on the character. I like Superman, Wonder Woman and Thor to be mythic. Characters like Daredevil should be down to earth.
