I’ve seen people talking about ticks but no one is really talking about the disease Alpha Gal that is spreading like wild fire all throughout Appalachia. I forgot to mention, you can’t have dairy products either. This is the biggest health epidemic no one is talking about.

I just saw a “signing day” for a travel baseball team… that is quite frankly the absolute most absurd thing I have ever seen… for a 7 year old… WHAT ARE WE DOING???

@CoachSwit Cost will come down over time. I’ve seen not horribly priced systems for personal use - don’t trust them yet, but I would like one for the practice to teach the eye better than my judgment from the pitchers mound

Might sound crazy, but maybe one day varsity H.S. baseball needs Robot Umpires/ABS System. No disrespect to umpires, but with league titles & playoff spots on the line, consistency behind the plate matters. Cost would be an issue, but something to think about. Thoughts?

@CoachSwit Sometimes they just need to know they could get there, and once they realize that, they’ve reached what they really wanted to know. And then it’s time for some to focus on what’s next (degree, job, etc.). Best advice I ever got was to quit wrestling in college…

One of the toughest things as a H.S. coach is seeing players reach their dream of college baseball… then a year or two later, they walk away from the game for whatever reason. That’s why I always say: Enjoy the game while you can. It goes by faster than you think.

@FiskPT Disagree for more advanced pitchers. We start with ‘throw a strike’ and then move to ‘throw outside, high, in the dirt’ for those who can control it - they won’t hit it every time, but with practice they get a lot of them

Before calling pitches to locations in LL-HS, how about just challenging the hitter to do the hardest thing in sports (squarely hit a sphere with a cylinder). When they do, "We've got gloves!!"

Everyone hating on the football team for going to the WH is unreal. Once in a lifetime opportunity. Doesn’t matter who is in office.

@JermaineCurtis The time between games - we had a five hour break between pool play and tourney (one day event), and they got to be old school kids - a park, some balls and a frisbee, making up games and just hanging out.

Parents spend thousands on travel baseball. I’m curious… What part do kids actually love most? The games? The hotels? The teammates? The competition? The baseball?

@coachzblair10 Are they ranked by how much merch their parents have bought from the sponsoring organization doing the rankings? It could be that if the #14 kid's parents had bought 4 more logo-quarter zips, their kid could have busted into the top 10.

@BSakbun Higher sales tax is about the only answer. A local portion. Penalizes wealthier people who speak more. Pay that local tax on property transfers, no exceptions.

Here's a question for the abolish property tax people- What is the alternative for paying for police, fire, schools, and parks? I'm asking a genuine question. What do you recommend?

@dandakich Consider reducing administrative headcount by 2% or minimum 1 headcount. Would save millions, I guarantee.

How bout a full accounting for the $$$ before raising taxes?

@CoachSwit Our team, a rec league ‘all star’ team by tourney classification, will be going by Wildcats Super Elite Rec League All Star National Select. Wildcats just doesn’t strike enough fear.

The problem with travel baseball now? Anybody can start a team. Get 12 kids, order uniforms, enter tournaments, call yourself “elite”… and suddenly you’re a travel organization. That doesn’t mean the development is good, arms are handled right, or kids are actually improving.

@CoachHPrice I don’t mind if they just gave them available and ask teams to provide a keeper - we always have a parent who would happily do it! That being said, our local park manager won’t let them use the scoreboards because they say the equipment gets torn up…

Certified take: Any tournament that you have to pay to get into, should have scorekeepers provided by the tournament hosts.

Who's going to live longer and have a more physically robust life? The 70yr old with a 55VO2max who can barely squat 1 x bodyweight, or the 70yr old with a 49VO2max who can squat 1.6 x bodyweight?

@3YearLetterman Bring back TBS and WGN coverage of baseball! Every kid was a closet Braves/Cubs fan because you could watch nearly every game! Even if you didn’t like them, you knew their players

My most socialist position is that all NFL, NBA, and MLB playoff games should be on network TV - kids whose parents can’t afford or don’t have streaming services should still be able to watch
