Consolidation in the financial advice industry is gathering pace around the world. Private equity increasingly owns the advice, the platform and the investment product. Same group. Every layer. Margin captured at every stage. It's called vertical integration. But who's it designed to serve? 🤔 Link in the comments 👉 #FinancialAdvice #WealthManagement

You can afford to retire. So why does the thought fill you with dread? 🤔 Because your financial plan answers 'Do I have enough?' but ignores the question that actually matters: 'What am I here for?' My latest for @rockwealthUK shorturl.at/Fry7b #Retirement

Fama & French said cheap, unloved stocks beat the market. The response from critics: "You just tortured the data until it confessed." Fair point. One country, one dataset. Maybe it was a fluke.

The Papers that Changed Investing: Value vs Growth: The International Evidence It's 1998. The Clinton impeachment proceedings grip Washington, the European Central Bank is established and eleven nations are selected to adopt the Euro as their single currency, and two Stanford PhD students launch a search engine called Google. Meanwhile on Wall Street, the dot-com frenzy is building. Tech stocks with no earnings are minting millionaires. Growth is everything. Old-economy value stocks — the cheap, beaten-down companies — are being left behind. But two economists have just published evidence that those unloved stocks had been quietly outperforming in markets right across the globe. Their paper: "Value Versus Growth: The International Evidence." Its authors: Eugene Fama and Kenneth French. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦. New research from Hendrik Bessembinder argues that the standard tools, arithmetic means, Sharpe ratios, alphas, paint a misleadingly rosy picture of stock picking. Think of it like lottery tickets. The odds of winning "any prize" sound decent, until most prizes just cover the cost of the ticket. Stocks work the same way. Many go up. Few beat Treasury bills. But with an index fund, you don't have to pick the winners. You own them all. My latest for @IFAdotcom: link in the comments 👇 #Investing #Stocks #IndexFunds
