We've updated our story on local votes to approve retail marijuana sales. Voters in Burlington, Brattleboro, Montpelier, Winooski and at least 15 other Vermont municipalities voted in favor. Lyndon, Newport and Richmond said no. vtdigger.org/2021/03/02/bur…

@vtbarngrow @GovPhilScott @MarijuanaPolicy Our director is a Vermonter and we have spoken to thousands of Vermonters about cannabis policy. Hundreds have joined our very real coalition of support for regulating cannabis. Again, you should probably look at our website — it might make your research easier.

@vtbarngrow @GovPhilScott @MarijuanaPolicy It's never been a secret. It's literally on our website and has been all along. We have nothing to be ashamed of — after all, we're not the ones working to maintain the status quo of prohibition.

@cmarchand41 @WSTTVT The maximum tax rate in S. 54 is 20%, same as Massachusetts and much lower than Colorado or Washington. Vermonters who want to grow their own are already free to do so, but not everybody can grow and most cannabis consumers prefer to have the option of buying from a retail store.

"[T]he insistence on waiting for a perfect bill would simply result in perpetuating this state of pseudo-legalization — and the harm it perpetuates — for at least an extra year." #vtpoli vtdigger.org/2020/10/01/mon…

@pedipsych @GovPhilScott Vermonters can buy cannabis in retail stores just south of the border. All they have to do is show an ID. It's weird that you prefer a system where no ID is required and products are not tested for purity and potency. Why not add "prohibition" to your name? Or maybe "Drug War"?

@RegulateVermont @GovPhilScott Vermonters can already now buy heroin too. Should we legalize that, based on your logic? Is that your organization's ultimate goal to legalize all drugs? Take the "regulate" out of your name as you clearly don't mean it.

@pedipsych @GovPhilScott The prohibition policies you have long defended do not protect health or safety in any way. Any Vermonter who wants to buy high-potency concentrates can already do so in Massachusetts. But we respect the compromises that have been made in S. 54, even the ones we don't agree with.

@RegulateVermont "We can even push to get those ridiculous potency limits removed on flower and concentrate." Wow. Well that is certainly is telling about where this slippery slope is going @GovPhilScott. No concern at all for health risks. #vtpoli

You probably already knew this, but yet another poll has confirmed it: Vermonters overwhelmingly support legalizing and regulating cannabis sales. #vtpoli #stream/0" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">vpr.org/post/september…

The bill to automatically expunge records for past low-level possession offenses also passed the Senate in a voice vote and will proceed to the governor's desk! This is a very important step for criminal justice and racial justice. #vtpoli
