1) Any ⛪️religious childhood molds the child mind by hijacking evolutionary🍃 survival mechanisms. This implants the belief wholesale into the mind with attendant defense mechanisms. You can observe this *in any religion¹🕌in the world*. The result is durable belief resistant to contrary facts.⛓️And it is a method that is indifferent to truth - it works as well on lies or errors. 2) Any non rational belief forming of this sort is: - not a free choice to love god - not a reasoned or free belief 3) Any god worth anything would: - reject this sort of belief or relationship as worthless - utilize a better method of becoming known - not allow imposters to flourish through this same method* - be as likely to create fully finished souls directly as this cardboard cutout believer scheme *ex: the 🌎will be ~Muslim☪️ shortly, the world has been ~✝️Christian up until now 4) Therefore, your god specifically does not exist. This is a case where bad arguments and methods do in fact reflect upon the truth of the claim via the pathway of the all powerful agency God has. Said another way, God is the dog that didn't bark. 🐶 You don't have to spend your life equivocating about this question and kowtowing to irrational minds spouting nonsense. The truth is religious people of all stripes have their minds in neutral🕹️. The result is they are, for all purposes, simpletons on the topic. Even smart people. Even people you like and respect. That is what religion *does*. There's nothing wrong with you for noticing. You can *know* that no god exists in the same everyday way you know there is milk in the refrigerator. ¹popular atheism is also subsumed by the woke religion at this point. However, this does *not* reflect on the atheist conclusion in the same negative way because the logical situation is asymmetric. No all powerful all knowing actor with designs means the atheism conclusion does not suffer the vulnerability above.

@spikedonline it IS the solution sometimes. We need to get real about extending life past dignity and usefulness in an era where the state takes care of these people and borrows the money to do it.

Universities discovered the perfect racket in the 1980s: convince bright kids they need PhDs to succeed, then extract 6-8 years of $15/hour teaching labor from them. Stanford graduates 180 PhDs per year but hires maybe 12 new professors. The math doesn't work -- and that's the point. You subsidize this machine every time you pay tuition or taxes. Universities expand PhD programs not because the economy needs more doctors of Medieval Literature, but because they need warm bodies to teach Intro to Everything while tenured professors "research" (write papers nobody reads). The artificial scarcity of tenure-track positions keeps desperate graduates working for peanuts well into their 30s. Classic monopsony power -- one buyer, many sellers, wages below market rate.

@Rafa_Mangual when it becomes necessary to use force, the more instant and effective the better - for everyone this bullshit was extremely dangerous and it's no good for public order either

This is what happens when you criminalize effective grappling. The diaphragm law is the byproduct of complete ignorance about how difficult it is to physically restrain a grown man who doesn’t want to be restrained. It’s a bad joke… a dangerous one.

Stanford has introduced Jain-friendly dining options, which means students can no longer pretend to be Jain to get out of the meal plan.

@ReliefBelief @sfmcguire79 You're misunderstanding what happened here. This was students (not Jain) trying to figure out a way to not be forced to buy a University meal plan that forced them to spend 3x the money on food they wanted to. Why are we defending universities that bilk taxpayer money?

I don’t think most of the chattering class understands quite how damaging floor crossers are to democracy. These floor crossings will change the outcome of the 2025 election and invalidate the democratic decision Canadians made to elect a minority government. This sends the message to voters that their vote doesn’t matter. And when we get to a place where voters feel democracy is illegitimate, we enter a very dark place.

So, a lot of people don't know that I'm trained in Sociology. After graduating, I taught engineering students research methods. I am well-versed in epistemology, methodology and research design. I understand what questions actually measure. I also know that studies should release their data and reveal whether they've been commissioned and by whom.

Reflects poorly on both. Gladu for obvious reasons. But if ever one needed proof that Liberal principles are first and foremost about the acquisition of power and not a coherent set of values and perspectives, it's accepting an unapologetic conservative like Gladu into caucus
Mark Carney@MarkJCarney

At this important moment for our country’s future, Canadians with a broad range of experience and perspectives are uniting to build Canada strong. I am honoured to welcome Marilyn Gladu today as the newest member of this government and our Liberal caucus. In a time of global economic uncertainty, Canada’s success will depend on how we build ambition into progress and strengths into sustained advantage. Marilyn brings the practical, results-driven leadership this effort demands. Having spent decades of her career in engineering and international business, she understands what it takes to create good jobs, strengthen supply chains, and ensure Canadian industry can compete in a rapidly changing global economy. She has been elected by the people of Sarnia—Lambton–Bkejwanong in four straight elections since 2015, and repeatedly earned recognition from colleagues across Parliament for her proven willingness to work constructively across party lines. I’m looking forward to working closely with Marilyn to build a stronger and more independent Canadian economy, meeting the challenges of a changing world with lasting opportunities for all.

I received this heartbreaking message from a Jewish professor at @UAntwerpen, who is leaving both the city and the university after four decades. I can hardly express how deeply this saddens and enrages me—especially in light of last week’s craven and disgraceful charade surrounding the honorary doctorate of @FranceskAlbs. "After fifty years living in Antwerp and forty years at the University of Antwerp as student, assistant and professor, I’m leaving. I no longer feel at home in the city and feel completely estranged from my university that has become a hotbed of radicalism and has completely lost its sense of academic values of critical thinking, discussion and genuine diversity of viewpoints. I fear that the student generation that – with the support of the university authorities - has now become indoctrinated and brainwashed to a point of no return. My son who was born and raised in Antwerp and who wears a kippa,  has been called a child murderer on the street by a Flemish person and was told to “get out of here”. At the university the students are shouting that Jews should get out of Palestine. He and his family are leaving too. It just became a bad place for Jews." This is on you, rectors. You have made universities into hostile places for Jews (unless they ritually denounce zionism and Israel). They will abandon you and take all their learning, knowledge and wisdom with them. And don't worry, @UGent, you have scarcely any Jewish professors left to begin with. The great Jewish linguist and classicist Julien Klener has long since retired. When I met him recently, he told me how relieved he is not to have to endure this ideological madness anymore.
