Your religion that you believe in so fervently is a product of your parents, the region in which you grew up, and the era. If you were born in the Congo in the 18th century you'd believe that Mbombo is the one true god and that "Kuba is true." Childhood indoctrination is the only reason that religion survives.

I don't care what you believe, except that I see all of the harm that religion does, and I fight to free humanity from its grasp. Why does there need to be a divine purpose to give life meaning? Everyone is free to find meaning in their own lives, whether it's raising children to be good people, or helping those less fortunate, or travelling the world to expand their horizons - and yes, wasting your time trying to appease a god that you were taught to believe. Everyone's religion is a product of the region in which they were born, the religion of their parents, and the time in which they live, not a matter of truth. If you were born in Sudan in 2,500 BCE you'd believe in Dedun - doesn't make it true.

When I realized if atheism is true there’s no objective morality, I began asking more questions. I called an atheist friend of mine that I respected, he knew a ton about philosophy. I asked him: “If we don’t believe in God because we can’t see or test for Him, He’s immaterial… then why do we believe in numbers and mathematical truths? Universal laws of logic? Our own self?” He took a long pause and just said “if you keep asking questions like this, you won’t be an atheist for much longer.” He was right.
