@TerryHethering9 If you are over 65 and still need to work then maybe you should be paying no tax. That said , those on government pensions are being screwed by the fact that they do not increase at the rate of real inflation, as opposed to the understated measure, CPI.

From a follower: I was working at The Athlete's Foot in Toronto about 30 years ago when The Final IRS compensations were made. A huge native man came in wanting gym bags. He had an Uzi machine pistol and more than $70, 000 straps of cash in paper LCBO bags. He told me to call him Judas. He confessed he had lied on the compensation forms. There was a lawyer helping him fill out the forms. They just checked boxes of various sex acts and how many times they happened. The lawyer got 15% so he had an incentive just to check every box. No description was required, no dates, no naming of the alleged rapists. Judas felt guilty. He loved the school. He loved the clean bedding and big meals He loved a young nun who tucked him into bed every night and gave him a kiss on the forehead. He confessed it was he who beat-up and raped other students. It was he who raided the pantry. So, these are the "verified" records that need to be examined for credibility when there is such an obvious conflict of interest and no defense protection of the teachers, nuns, priests and tax-payers.

@TerryHethering9 Capital gains are taxes are much more taxing than they appear. There are no adjustments to cost base to account to loss of value due to inflation. The longer you hold a taxable property, the more you get hosed for that value lost to inflation.
