Sad day for the #Symfony community. Symfony would not be Symfony without @weaverryan. Symfony blogget since 2009, core team member, magician at SymfonyCasts, speaker, and more. He needs our support. Time to give back. gofundme.com/f/support-ryan…
Ryan Weaver@weaverryan
So.... I have incurable brain cancer and I'm asking for your love & support 💖

@brendt_gd Yea we’ve added it for our symfony apps. Can’t say there’s a huge diff in speed but it probably helps and most likely benchmarkable.

Definitely feel remote work is less productive compared to everyone being together in person.
But, I guess it’s the only option for companies like Laravel founded outside of a major tech hub, or outside of a major city entirely 😅
Paul Graham@paulg
I've talked to multiple founders recently who have changed their minds about remote work and are trying to get people back to the office. I doubt things will go all the way back to the way they were before Covid, but it looks like they will go most of the way back.

@saylor @lexfridman False. Any hardcoded cryptocurrency w/o inflation will eventually (on, say, a 1m year timescale) be totally distributed among wallets whose keys have been lost.
Bitcoin is v divisible but is not infinitely divisible without changing code, which bitcoiners are not willing to do

I'll be giving a talk about using Lambda from your Laravel app.
You can run JavaScript, Ruby, Python, or Java straight from Laravel.
And soon... PHP. Or any Artisan command 👨🎨

@afilina Not gonna post on the OG thread cause my PHP brethren will go nuts but I think software is just opinionated, blaming frameworks is not addressing the root cause. Design patterns, scalable systems and architecture, and most of all; leadership/ownership over the code.
English

I have the advantage of having seen a *lot* of legacy code, which means that I know what decisions look like years after they're made. ORMs and opinionated frameworks seem to always lead to an un-upgradeable pile of code that everyone hates.
