Avant de réclamer le congédiement du PDG d’Air Canada, un rappel s’impose. Lors de la réforme de la Loi sur les langues officielles, Ottawa a refusé d’imposer le bilinguisme au PDG. Le Bloc québécois était le seul à appuyer cette obligation. Autrement dit, le cadre actuel est un choix politique. On ne peut pas refuser une règle en droit… et exiger son application sous pression médiatique.

Pour parler avec sa fille et sa belle famille! Suzuki fait des efforts notables pour ça! Gainey, Dryden ont fait cette effort là.

Si tu viens d'arriver à Montréal il y a une période d'adaptation acceptable mais plus de 20 ans c'est un manque de respect.

@JonFraserTF If somebody stayed for 20 years and was CEO of a Toronto based company and only adressed his employees in Hindi (because he is more comfortable) it would also be considered a huge deal for sure. We are not asking for him to write a thesis. Just basic communication and respect.

@ReneOuld This isn’t Aeroflot. It’s a publicly held (ie shareholders) company; mission is to provide a service that customers buy at a price that ensures a profit. Difference is the necessity for ⬆️safety standards. The CEO isn’t a flight attendant telling you to buckle up in 2 languages.

24 hours after this tragedy, Mike Rousseau is focused on the welfare of the crew and customers impacted and their families. The federal transport minister, meanwhile, is fixated on the Official Languages Act.

Also this a airline that operate every flight in both language it is hypocritical if the top guy does not do that.

@ReneOuld @duncandee I bank at TD. I don’t know who the CEO is and couldn’t care less what language he/she speaks or not. Run a competent, honest efficient operation that provides a decent return to shareholders. Air Canada’s should focus on safe, affordable, courteous service. The test is gravy.
