22-year-old Jay Coleman from Walton, Liverpool, had already been given an eight-month suspended sentence for possessing child abuse images.
Just weeks later he was caught again downloading depraved material, this time with nine Category A (most serious) indecent images, 22 Category C images, computer-generated child abuse pictures and breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order by deleting his internet history.
When police arrested him he immediately confessed to his mother: “I’ve messed up. I’ve done it again. I’m going to jail.”
Liverpool Crown Court sentenced him to 14 months in prison today, imposed a new ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed him on the sex offenders register for ten years.

After attending his sister’s graduation ceremony, he went to a park with his girlfriend. Their path crossed with 10 foreigners.
He was wearing a cross around his neck. That was enough.
All ten of them savagely beat him with kicks and punches. They attacked his girlfriend too, then stabbed him over and over without mercy.
Philip fought for three agonizing days in the hospital, but the injuries were too severe. He died.
The main killer, a Syrian migrant, was sentenced to just 9 years in prison.

It's clear to me that modernity subdues the desire to reproduce in most people, and the availability of contraception and abortion makes it easy to have sex while avoiding pregnancy. As fewer people have children, we see the gradual collapse of the social infrastructure that both supports parents and also cajoles young adults into becoming parents. Having children comes with trade offs, especially financial, and most modern people just don't care enough about having children to tolerate those trade offs, especially when it comes to having big families.
Three things seem to inoculate against this:
1. Having an unusually strong desire to have children, and a willingness to tolerate the trade offs, usually motivated by a sense of spiritual purpose (@CRPakaluk's book is superb on this).
2. Being a member of a religious subculture that has preserved its pro-natal social infrastructure.
3. Being either so rich that the financial trade offs don't matter very much, or so poor that the welfare state will absorb those trade offs on your behalf. That seems to be what's happening with the u-shaped chart.

Brain scans are revealing early dementia-like changes in kids and teens from heavy screen use. 60 Minutes Australia reported toddlers spending just 2–3 hours daily on devices already show abnormal white matter development. Teens averaging 6–8 hours display widened brain ridges and thinning in key areas — patterns that mirror early Alzheimer’s. Excessive screens appear to weaken neural pathways that normally strengthen through real-world movement, play, and face-to-face interaction. We’re also seeing the first IQ drops in recorded history, plus a nearly 400% rise in early-onset dementia signs among 35–44 year olds. Correlation, not proven causation — but devices are the major new variable. This is one of those reports that makes you rethink default habits. The convenience of screens is undeniable, but the potential long-term brain impacts on developing kids are hard to ignore. We may be unintentionally running a massive experiment on the next generation’s cognitive health. Are we underestimating the risks of heavy screen time, or is this concern overblown?

So how did white people get to be so fair? That’s a big question but the when is easier to address than the how. This figure from Patterson et al 2022 shows that across Europe the light skin pigmentation allele at rs16891982 (SLC45A2) increased significantly in two jumps, first at the start of the Bronze Age, then again in the Iron Age. Note that the increase is more significant for Britain compared to Spain/Portugal.
The study also showed that the Iron Age increase in lighter skin coincided with an increase in lactose tolerance. Even simple people can observe that Europeans get lighter as you go further North, so we can conclude that the lightening of Europeans was due to combined selection pressure relating to both climate AND diet. Something about what people were eating combined with the lack of sunlight made it essential for them to become fairer.
But the darker skinned people were never fully removed from the British genepool. They accounted for 30% of Britons in the Bronze Age while today they are much rarer. They do not descend from the Spanish at all, although they may sometimes look Spanish.
They do not necessarily have more EEF admixture, or more WHG admixture but it is generally true that they have more Iron Age British admixture relative to Anglo-Saxon.

Some controversy has arisen recently about the “Dark Briton” phenotype. Such people are found all over Britain and Ireland but are more common in Wales, Cornwall and Southern Ireland. In Britain prior to the 1950’s we used to refer to such people as “black” which is confusing now due to modern racial terminology. In this thread I will explain that British people have diverse phenotypes and that these swarthy people are just normal natives of the British isles.
Historically there have been a number of popular pseudo-historical explanations for these darker people. The most common was that they were descended from Spanish sailors washed ashore after the Armada sank in 1588. This is nonsense. A somewhat more plausible theory that was common among academics of the 19th century is that they are native Britons who have less Anglo-Saxon blood. 1/6 🧵
