@XadenRyan @Renogy If you are using their charge controllers, let me know how long they last. One blew in 2 months, waited a week for new one to arrive, didn't work. Camping in the desert with no electricity or refrigeration was not part of the plan.

@Renogy Your charge controllers suck btw. One stopped working after 2months, reordered and it didn't work at all. You USED to sell quality, my old one survived 4 yrs of intermentent use and jostled around in chuck box. See lots of complaints... What happened?

@Renogy It took more than 100 days to get my $181.65 back. The 'finance team' demanded I remove a CC dispute then they gaslit and tried to take advantage of me, a 70 yo public servant. I'm completely done with Renogy.

@Renogy Your batteries are terrible for the price, and i would advise anybody to look around on the market as there are many battery that outperform and a fraction of the cost.

@NomadsEdge Appreciate the detailed write up! That relay click feedback is noted. Your Airstream setup is seriously impressive though, 1000W and eyeing 2000W is no joke.

My first inverter was a Renogy 48V all-in-one. On paper, perfect. In practice, it drove me crazy. Every time it switched between solar and shore power: THUNK. A mechanical relay click you could hear from the bedroom. In 300 square feet, you hear everything.

The progression of my charge controllers over the years lol. I started with a single solar panel and the battery out of my boat. It got me started out here. PWM -> 40amp MPPT Renogy -> 100amp MPPT Renogy -> 150v|85amp Victron I stuck with Renogy shit for WAY too long before I accepted that it was indeed shit. If I had had the connection I have now for good Victron pricing, I could have skipped that step and saved myself $500. Oh well, live and learn. If you're going to live off solar, go ahead and START cheap if you HAVE to... BUT when you start to upgrade for expansion, wait and save that money till you can afford not cheap chinese junk.

I’m working on designing a new lifepo4 battery system for the home shack. The batteries will provide primary DC power to all radio equipment as well as power an inverter for AC backup in a power failure.
