I am calling on DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin to close the Dilley Immigration Processing Center. Families have reported inhumane treatment and unsafe conditions for children. No child belongs in detention. DHS must close this facility and end family detention.

I’m concerned by reports that Salah Sarsour is not receiving proper medical care at the Clay County Detention Center in Brazil, Indiana—and that he has been denied the ability to practice his faith 18 people have already died in ICE custody this year alone. Today, I joined @ChrisVanHollen, @RepAndreCarson, @RosaDeLauro, @RepHankJohnson, @RepRoKhanna, and @RepJerryNadler in leading 119 Democrats in a letter condemning the Anti-Muslim Sharia Free Caucus. Religious discrimination has no place anywhere, and in Congress, there ought to be no place for anti-Muslim legislation that discriminates against the faith tradition of American Muslims. As Democrats from many different faiths, we know that our faith calls on us to uphold the dignity and humanity for all. No one should be targeted or live in fear for practicing their faith.
