We just passed a bipartisan bill to fund DHS and end the longest government shutdown — without funding ICE. House Democrats did not back down, and now critical services can continue without giving an additional dime to ICE. We need to keep fighting to protect our community and demand accountability — but this is a victory.

The Supreme Court ’s Louisiana decision is a blow to the Voting Rights Act. Civil rights warriors like my mentor, John Lewis, fought for this landmark bill to ensure voters are equally represented in every election. Today took us backwards.  @TheBlackCaucus and I are fighting to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act—and the rest of Congress needs to join us.

Food deserts. SNAP privatization. Cuts to Summer EBT that keep kids fed when school is out. Indiana families deserve better and no child should go hungry because of Republican policies. That’s why I’ve offered THREE amendments to the Farm Bill to say DO BETTER.

BILL  ALERT: I’m co-leading the AI Data Center Site Selection Transparency Act.  Data centers are often shrouded in mystery, with plans moving forward before meaningful public input. My bill will require data centers to be transparent. Neighborhoods have to deal with the consequences of data centers – and so neighborhood input should be central, not an afterthought.

These findings raise more questions. Were Tuan Van Bui's chronic conditions identified during the required medical screening upon his arrival at Miami Correctional? Did he receive medications for heart disease or high blood pressure in a consistent and timely manner while detained? Was this solely natural causes, or neglect of a person in federal custody? We need transparency and answers.

Solutions to food insecurity don't have to be complicated.   I'm also cosponsoring an amendment so families on SNAP can purchase hot meals, like rotisserie chickens.  SNAP recipients should be able to access healthy, versatile groceries—that kids will eat.

🚨AMENDMENT ALERT: I'm offering amendments to the FARM Bill, a major piece of legislation renewed every 5 years that sets national policy for agriculture and food assistance. It will be considered on the House floor next week.   My amendments will:    ✅Invest in existing grocery stores to fix critical issues like broken freezers and meat coolers — problems that can make an entire neighborhood lose out on fresh, healthy foods.  ✅Expand access in food deserts by supporting the development of new grocery stores in underserved communities.  ✅Restore summer meals for children, who otherwise lose out when they're no longer eating at school.

No one deserves to die in ICE custody. Every person in detention centers deserves basic human needs like water and safe shelter. My visit to Miami Correctional Facility raised concerns that should not be ignored.

This is exactly why we need to fund medical research.    I lead efforts every year to increase funding to the National Institutes of Health, and in particular pancreatic cancer research, which hurts Black Americans at higher rates.    Medical research saves lives.

Pancreatic cancer has one of the most suppressive tumor microenvironments in oncology. But two pancreatic cancer results dropped today. Both matter. 1. BioNTech mRNA neoantigen vaccine: nearly all responders still alive at 6 years. 98% of induced T cells were de novo — the immune system learned to see a cancer it had always been blind to. 2. Daraxonrasib: 47% ORR, 92% disease control as first-line monotherapy. KRAS G12D, undruggable for 40 years, finally has a drug. Different mechanisms. Same disease. Both working. <13% of patients survive 5 years. That number is about to change. great day for science! 🔥

Families are already dealing with the high cost of living. Budget cuts would leave children and mothers without essentials they need to stay healthy. This is wrong and why I voted to rein in the president’s powers and end this senseless war.

Yesterday, the House passed the ALERT Act with overwhelming bipartisan support. This bill strengthens coordination between civilian and military aircraft, modernizes collision prevention technology, and improves aviation safety. We honor the 67 lives lost in the DCA midair collision and remain committed to preventing tragedies like this from happening again.
