PASSED: After over five months of a lapse in funding due to congressional inaction, legislation to reauthorize key small business research programs (SBIR and STTR) has passed the House and Senate. As the House comes back into session, we should immediately take up and pass legislation to fund the Coast Guard, FEMA, TSA, and other vital services that Americans depend on and have wide, bipartisan support. It is outrageous that House Republican leadership refuses to do so.

The New Hampshire National Guard plays a vital role in protecting our communities and U.S. interests at home and abroad. This weekend, I joined the National Guard Association of New Hampshire to say thank you and to give an update on my work to support our service members.

I helped serve lunch at Alvirne High School on Friday. Healthy, nutritious meals are vital to helping our students learn and reach their full potential. I was glad to be able to jump in and help serve pizza and salad, and to learn about the important support the team at Alvirne provides.

Joined the PLUS Company’s 35th Wild Irish Breakfast. This annual roast in Nashua celebrates and supports the vital work done by the PLUS Company to empower adults with disabilities. This includes educational classes, vocational training, daily living support, and more. While there were lots of jokes thrown around (a few of them were even funny), it was great to come together in support of such a great cause.

Turkey’s deployment of F-16s into northern Cyprus is unacceptable and illegal under U.S. law. This move further threatens Cyprus’s sovereignty and only serves to further destabilize one of our closest allies and the entire region. President Erdogan has repeatedly ignored U.S. legal prohibitions and is emboldened to do so because administrations of both parties have rewarded or ignored this behavior rather than enforcing the law. Turkey’s decision to again ignore our laws and violate the sovereignty of one of our allies, especially in the middle of a volatile regional conflict, underscores how unreliable President Erdogan is and why it is crucial the administration not repeat the mistakes of the past. Turkey must immediately withdraw their F-16s and any other U.S.-made platforms. Grateful to our TSA agents in New Hampshire and across the country for working to keep us safe. The Republican majority in Congress has blocked bills that would pass overwhelmingly to fund TSA, Coast Guard, FEMA, and other vital services. I'll keep fighting to get that done.

Last July when presenting a Gold Star Lapel Button to the Saracy Family in honor of Private Daniel E. Janvrin Jr. of Seabrook who was killed in action while serving our country in World War II, we learned his Purple Heart was missing. Yesterday I was honored to present that medal to his loved ones so that they know his service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
