My Advance TAP Payments Act, included in the Farm Bill, just passed through the House. Western North Carolina growers are still recovering from Helene. This bill will cover up to 50% of upfront replanting costs, helping our farmers recover faster and stronger. 🌳

After 76 days, DHS is finally funded. For Western North Carolina, that means Hurricane Helene relief efforts can move forward with the certainty our communities deserve. I voted to get this done — and I'll keep pushing to make sure every dollar of relief reaches the families and communities across WNC still working to rebuild.

The Disaster Relief Fund will run out this week if we do not fund DHS. Depleting the DRF halts recovery projects, delays reimbursements, and leaves communities footing the bill. We can’t let Washington dysfunction stop our recovery. It's time to fund DHS and replenish the DRF.

The FY27 Agriculture funding bill has passed through committee, marking the fourth bill to advance out of @HouseAppropsGOP this season. As the only North Carolina appropriator, I’m ensuring our farmers, producers, and rural communities are heard and supported in Washington. This bill will strengthen our agricultural economy and put our farmers first. 🌾

WNC's specialty crop growers are facing labor shortages and rising costs. The last thing they need is a new financial barrier. During the @HouseAppropsGOP markup of the FY 27 Agriculture Appropriations bill, I pushed to block a cost-share requirement on the USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant Program to keep these resources accessible for the family farms that need them most.

Rural health care in Western North Carolina depends on nurses who show up every day to care for our communities. I appreciated hearing directly from National Nurses United about the challenges they face and the priorities they’re working to advance. Their perspective is essential, and their work makes a real difference in NC-11.

Everything I need is here for another long day of @HouseAppropsGOP markups. Today we’ll take up the spending bill for the committee I Vice Chair; National Security, State Dept. and Related Programs. We affectionately refer to it as NSRP. Our bill reinforces the importance of America’s global leadership, strengthens our alliances, and supports critical national security functions while wringing out waste.

The Saluda Grade Trail would bring an estimated $240 million in economic impact to our region, helping strengthen our tourism industry and support long-term recovery following Hurricane Helene. I heard updates from Conserving Carolina on the project, which would connect downtown Saluda to Henderson County’s Bell Park trailhead. On December 23, 2025, Sean Garry courageously stepped in to help during a devastating crash involving an impaired driver.
