Sioux Falls has made tremendous improvements to its Sioux Area Metro services in recent years. I joined Mayor Paul TenHaken and Via Transportation to see firsthand how Sioux Falls has become a national leader in public transit.

Taxpayer dollars should support the people who truly need them. Sending federal funds to fraudsters is a serious failure, which is why I voted for more oversight into where these dollars are going.

I caught up with students from Platte‑Geddes outside the Capitol this week. It was great to chat with them and answer a few questions about what’s happening in Congress.

The federal government loses an estimated $233 billion to $521 billion to fraud every year. This is unacceptable. I voted to pass several common-sense bills to stop fraud in government programs because every taxpayer dollar matters.

I found some Bulldogs in the Capitol today! Madison Middle School’s 8th graders are in D.C. this week. I had a great time chatting with them during their visit.

Congratulations to Mark Cruz on his nomination for Director of the Indian Health Service. Mark has strong ties to South Dakota’s tribal leaders and volunteered with Teach for America at Rosebud. I spoke to Girls State attendees in Vermillion about the importance of civic engagement at all levels of government. They had some great questions about leadership, supporting South Dakota ag, and the future impact of artificial intelligence. I’m looking forward to seeing how they improve their communities and our country.

LiDAR may not be a household name, but the technology provides millimeter‑level data of America’s infrastructure. We cannot rely on Chinese LiDAR systems to examine our roads, and I’m glad my bill to protect America from this spy technology is included in @TransportGOP’s BUILD America 250 Act.

The students at Boys State in Aberdeen are a fun and thoughtful group. It was great to talk with them about Congress and the role of the federal government. I know their work will improve South Dakota and America over the next 20 years and beyond.
