Great meeting with RuralSTAMINA to discuss the Iowa State University-led RuralSTAMINA project. We discussed the Biomanufacturing Engine award for Iowa, which will provide $15 million over the first two years to launch the Engine, with the potential for up to $160 million in federal investment over 10 years. This is a tremendous opportunity to accelerate Iowa’s bioeconomy, expand biomanufacturing capacity, strengthen the workforce, and create new economic opportunities across the state. I was proud to write a letter in support of RuralSTAMINA’s application for this grant, which will foster partnerships among Iowa’s universities, strengthen our rural workforce, and help the United States maintain its global leadership in bioscience research and innovation.

Currently, lithium-ion batteries are considered "universal waste," and get recycled by handling facilities. But, as @RepMMM stresses, critical minerals like nickel, cobalt, lithium and copper can be recovered from these batteries. The bipartisan BRACE Act would allow destination facilities to store lithium-ion batteries before they get recycled, making it easier to support the domestic recovery of the minerals we need.

Proud to honor the Pella High School Marching Dutch on the House Floor for their trip to D.C. celebrating America’s 250th. When the parade was canceled due to severe heat, these 225 students adapted with a pop-up performance at Upper Senate Park. They made Iowa proud. 🎺🇺🇸

Encouraging news for Iowa families: inflation just saw its biggest one-month drop since 2020. This is real progress. But there is still work to do, and I will not stop fighting until costs come down for good. 🇺🇸

My office joined the @USDA for a roundtable in Jasper County to hear directly from farmers affected by the recent heavy rainfall and flooding. While much of the county was spared, those who were hit are facing real challenges, and damage assessments are still underway. I appreciate the USDA taking the time to show up in person and listen to Iowa farmers and stakeholders. If you were affected and an agency isn’t being responsive, my office is here to help.

It’s official: the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is now law. After passing the House and Senate with overwhelming bipartisan support, the bill became law this week after the 10-day constitutional window for presidential action passed. Lower costs. More homes. And a ban on Wall Street firms buying up Iowa neighborhoods. For every Iowa family working toward a home of their own, we delivered. 🏠🇺🇸

It is with great sadness that I learned of the sudden passing of Senator Lindsey Graham. He devoted his life to serving our nation, first as a veteran and then for over two decades in the U.S. Senate. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, staff, and South Carolina.

Social Security is a promise to America’s seniors, and I’ll always fight to protect that promise and ensure they receive the benefits they earned after a lifetime of hard work.
