We are about 3D Printing. "Embrace the layers" is our motto.

A few weeks back I spent my Saturday aft with the fine folks at @Replitech_ca visiting their facility. They are a local startup here in Windsor ON making filament and it was great to sit down and talk about the whole process. Thank you for inviting me out.

@joeltelling @3dpNero It will be great to welcome you at our shop, Joel! We are still a small bunch, but we are friendly, enthusiastic and serious about what we do. You’ll have fun here!

@3dpNero Can't wait to see it! I hope I get to visit your part of the world in the future - you'll have to take me by @Replitech_ca

This is a (very) quick tour of our 3D printing shop. One continuous shot from a small drone.

@LocalmakerM If you live in Detroit, close to the border, you can come to our shop in Windsor and we will show you how to navigate the firmware update. We don’t have a palette device but I’m sure our boys can figure it out too. Send me a pm if you’re interested.

@joeltelling @josefprusa Nothing benefits the 3D printing community and the 3D printing consumer more than the Open Source movement. I don't know what 3D Printing (or Prusa) would be today, without RepRap.
English

@josefprusa I really hope this resonates far and wide and we witness a massive benefit to the industry and the consumer.

During the last week I spent a lot of time with Sanjay and we discussed this a lot. I fully support this and from my point of view, I certainly don’t keep my printers open source just to enable lazy 1:1 clones of questionable quality 🤔

We want to talk; we are patenting some things, and we're also making a binding promise about non-enforcement. Read more below ⬇️ e3d.online/intellectualpr…

@josefprusa If you developed your product from scratch, it is OK to patent or protect it however you want. If you used open source to develop it, keeping it closed is unfair - you have to find a viable business model while keeping the product open.

@flowwiescorner Maybe because they could learn the "design fundamentals" while building a marketable skill which could help them find a job later on?

@PistonPin VERY cool! I love it. Did you glue the tube on the nut groove, or is it just staying there by friction? I'll try to make a small one using 1.75 nylon/TPU filament instead of teflon tube.

@3dpNero I hope you have prepared a stick too.... just in case the carrot doesn't work.... 😃

@3dpNero Now instead of cleaning the closet, you'll play with the found army for hours..... 😁

@3dpNero We extruded PP (one of the main ingredients of TPO) and made filament of it with and without elastomers blended. We tried to print it and it warps like crazy - not good... You can bring a handful to our shop and we can extrude it into filament to try it out.

@3dpNero CNC routing. It complements 3D printing nicely… I can lend you our Shapeoko if you have room for it - we don’t use it for now… Let me know if you need it.
