@SharkWitLasers Yup. A friend of mine is having a hell of a time getting his to print no matter what he does. The ink is constantly clogging and sputtering. I had a sublimation printer in the past and you had to print something every day to keep from clogging.

I canceled my eufyMake UV Printer E1 $50 deposit. I was really excited about the E1 with its awesome features like 3D textures and AI tools. I put down a deposit like many of you, and I didn’t even try to contact them for a demo unit. I felt it was a good purchase and a fun machine to have in my new shop and try and make money with. However, I’m disappointed by the lack of transparency on ink consumption. The campaign says 600ml yields ~1,000 small prints, but there’s no clear ml/print data, especially for 3D printing, which uses significantly more ink. At $299 per ink set, that’s around $0.50 per print or more for 3D printing. This is far too expensive for a small business or hobbyist like me, especially during tight months. I’ve asked for details, but all my questions were avoided or redirected, making budgeting and pricing really difficult. Additionally, one of their content promoters - Ryan Shearer who seems very unknowledgeable about UV printers—was advertising the E1 in a group. He actually compared the E1 to a $50,000 commercial machine from LogoJET to make the E1 seem better. 🤦🏻‍♂️ I was dumbfounded, as his comments are incredibly misleading to newbies. I truly feel bad for people who are misinformed and listen to him. He got a free printer, and his job is to hype up the printer, not to inform creators like us about the hidden, exorbitant costs. Rather than answer my logical question about the ink. He attacked me 🤦🏻‍♂️ There are many desktop UV printers in the $1,500–$2,500 range with even higher DPI (like Kecai or Soan models) that do flat UV printing with similar print areas and ink setups. Some even support embossing (3D effects) and have ink costs as low as $0.01–$0.15 per print. The E1’s features are great, but the high ink costs make it hard to afford long-term, especially when alternatives are so much cheaper to run. I’d love to see eufyMake be more upfront about ink usage and address how this printer competes with other desktop UV printers, not industrial machines. Transparency would help buyers like me make informed decisions without feeling like we’re being left in the dark on ink or other hidden costs. Research before buying—save yourself unnecessary costs Why isn’t eufyMake transparent? 1. Business Strategy: Protecting Profit Margins• Proprietary Ink Model: eufyMake uses a proprietary ink system, with ink kits priced at $299 for 600ml (plus a 380ml cleaning cartridge) and individual 100ml cartridges at $42.99. This pricing is high compared to industry standards for UV ink (e.g., $0.08/ml for bulk ink vs. $0.33–$0.42/ml for the E1, as calculated earlier). A common strategy in the printer industry—seen with brands like HP, Epson, and Canon—is to sell the printer at a lower cost (e.g., $1,699–$1,899 for the E1) and recoup profits through expensive ink sales.• Why Hide Consumption?• If eufyMake were fully transparent about ink usage (e.g., providing precise ml/print figures for various print types), consumers could easily calculate the true cost per print ($0.25–$0.50 for a small 2x2-inch print, as estimated). This might deter buyers who realize the high long-term cost, especially for a small business or hobbyist like me, where ink expenses during tight months are a concern, especially since I’m rebuilding from a fire.• By being vague—stating only that the ink yields ~1,000 small 2x2-inch prints (without specifying ml/print or accounting for 3D texture usage) @eufyMake avoids highlighting the high operational cost, keeping the focus on the printer’s features (e.g., 3D textures, AI tools) during the Kickstarter launch.• Industry Precedent: This mirrors the “razor-and-blades” model, where companies like HP have faced criticism for opaque ink yield data. HP often provides page yields (e.g., 200 pages per cartridge) but doesn’t specify ink usage per page, making it hard for consumers to estimate costs for different print jobs. eufyMake’s approach is similar, prioritizing sales over full cost transparency

The best print I have done in a while. My wife hates it. Pretty happy with the quality. The failed support didn't impact anything important. Color swaps worked great.

@ChuckHellebuyck @CNC_Kitchen I don't think you're wrong Chuck. I would imagine that type of tube would be very abrasive to the filament causing debris buildup. Higher friction makes the extruder motor work harder. If the resistance exceeds the motor's torque, it may skip steps. Maybe this is by design.:)

@CNC_Kitchen Seems like this could make things worse for soft TPU which can flex into those grooves and increase resistance but I could be wrong.

Look what I just discovered when I took a closer look at one of the Bambu Lab H2D Bowden tubes. This one doesn't have a standard circular opening but a star-shaped one, probably to reduce friction from less PTFE contacting the filament. Seems really clever! What do you think?

@tripodsgarage @CanuckCreator I agree it’s bad idea. Soot mixed with humidity is no bueno as it causes corrosion to components. It also gets into to all the nooks and crannies eventually wearing out bearings and other mechanical parts. Also not a fan of the multipurpose machine.

I said it from the beginning. This was not a good idea! This was after 20+ hours of testing with the xTool F1 Ulta. Imagine just half of this soot floating around your 3D printer enclosure. This is why “I am not a fan of multipurpose machines!” Natural materials like stone and wood will cause more smoke and soot.

@CanuckCreator As a 3d Printer and Laser user, this is not a good idea at all! The debris a laser creates is toxic and if not properly vented can cause health hazards as well as corrosive to your 3d printer.
